The Dragon Balls can grant wishes that are capable of changing lives, reviving the dead, and even altering the fate of entire worlds. However, not all wishes made through Dragon Ball were intelligent or heroic in nature.
There have been many instances in Dragon Ball where the wishes made were rather foolish, troublesome, and even catastrophic. With that said, here are the five worst wishes in Dragon Ball, ranked from disappointing to genuinely disturbing.
1. Oolong’s Wish for Panties Was a Total Waste

Oolong’s wish remains one of the funniest examples of wasted Dragon Ball power. In the early episodes of the anime, during the Emperor Pilaf arc, Pilaf had just a few moments left to make a wish for world domination, but Oolong intervened and wished for “the panties of a hot babe” from Shenron.
From a purely humorous perspective, this wish is almost perfect because Oolong actually saved the world without any heroic intentions. However, from a practical standpoint, this wish is certainly one of the worst.
2. Commander Red’s Wish To Grow Taller Wasted An Army

Commander Red had devoted many years to creating the mighty Red Ribbon Army, and his soldiers traveled all over the world to find Dragon Balls. Everyone thought that his intention was to conquer the world, and that made him one of the greatest enemies of Goku. The truth, however, was far more ridiculous. Red only wanted Shenron to make him a little taller because he was embarrassed by his height.
That is what makes this one of the franchise’s worst wishes. An entire army fought, stole, and died chasing the Dragon Balls, all for a selfish wish that accomplished almost nothing. When Staff Officer Black learned the truth, he shot Red on the spot – making the entire campaign a tragic waste.
3. Sorbet’s Wish Revived Frieza
Sorbet’s wish was far more dangerous because it brought one of Dragon Ball‘s greatest villains back from the dead. In Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F‘, Sorbet and Tagoma use the Dragon Balls to request Shenron to resurrect Frieza, who had been killed by Future Trunks.
From Sorbet’s point of view, this request sounds quite sensible since he wishes to restore his former emperor. The thing is that Frieza is exactly the sort of character who is supposed to be dead. Therefore, Sorbet gave one of his most terrible enemies the chance to become even more powerful.
4. King Piccolo’s Wish for Restored Youth Created a Nightmare

King Piccolo’s wish was one of the earliest examples of a disturbing wish in the Dragon Ball series. In the King Piccolo Arc, King Piccolo gathered the Dragon Balls and wished to restore his youth in order to regain his prime strength.
The disturbing part of this wish is the way it shifts the power balance between the characters. King Piccolo is already a demonic character who came back to terrorize the Earth, and his rejuvenation took away the few natural limitations that he had. Goku had to fight him at enormous risk, making this one wish responsible for turning an already dangerous villain into an even greater threat.
5. Zamasu’s Wish to Steal Goku’s Body Destroyed a Timeline

Nothing on this list comes close to Zamasu’s wish. In Dragon Ball Super, Zamasu discovers the existence of the Super Dragon Balls and uses them to switch bodies with Goku, creating Goku Black.
This was not simply a villain gaining a powerful body. Zamasu combined Goku’s Saiyan abilities with his own divine nature and used that power to carry out the “Zero Mortal Plan.” The resulting Future Trunks Arc became one of Dragon Ball‘s darkest stories, ultimately forcing Future Zeno to erase the entire future timeline, making it the most disturbing one.
Now the big question: Which Dragon Ball wish do you think was the worst of them all? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
