Marvel may have forgotten one of its own teamups, but we haven’t. Eternals was one of the first films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that hit theaters, spreading excitement across the globe after the Infinity Saga. Starring Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, alongside Kit Harington as well as Richard Madden, it brought forth another talent and gave us the very first Indian superhero, Kumail Nanjiani’s Kingo.
While the Multiverse Saga included the Eternals fighting against the long-forgotten big bad Kang the Conqueror, the upcoming slate doesn’t look so functional when it comes to the followers of Arshiem. Recalling his good old days, Nanjiani reflected on how he put up with his superhero character.
Kumail Nanjiani: Night Thoughts hit everyone with the actor’s comic self last month, in which the star stated that he hasn’t smelled cake for years (via CinemaBlend).
Nanjiani also added, “And now I know all of you are waiting for me to go back to how I was. Oh, it’ll make you so happy if I go back to how I was. So, now I’m stuck in this prison, ’cause I don’t want to give you the satisfaction.”
Now that there are no signs of the Eternals being anywhere near, the actor from The Big Sick stated,
There’s no reason for me to be buff anymore, but I am because fuck you. I’ll be doing pushups on my deathbed because f**k you. When I look at cake and want to eat it, I think of how happy it’ll make you if I eat it and that gives me the strength to not eat it.
Trivia: Kumail Nanjiani went on to bulk up for the role of Kingo, not because it was required, but because he wanted to explore more such action-packed opportunities.
Kumail Nanjiani Should Show Up in Marvel’s Future Outings
Eternals was one of the big team-ups that Marvel Studios introduced. Entering 2026, we are excited to see Avengers: Doomsday, which will not only include the already existing superheroes but also new teams such as the Fantastic Four, as well as the X-Men. While all these teams are coming for action on the big screen, fans desperately hope to see the Eternals, who have been totally forgotten.
The only time recently we saw a reference to the Eternals was in Captain America: Brave New World. That too, it was the celestial that was brought up in the storyline and not one of the leading characters.
However, it should be noted that an old artwork revealed Jolie’s Thena and others fighting Jonathan Majors‘ Kang the Conqueror. While his antagonist has met an unfortunate fate, the Multiverse Saga hasn’t. Meaning, we can hope to see Kumail Nanjiani and Eternals fight alongside James Marsden-led X-Men, Chris Evans’ Captain America, and others.
With many more actors expected to be announced in a second lineup video soon, let’s keep our fingers crossed.
Kumail Nanjiani to Star in British Show Taskmaster

Entering the big leagues, Kumail Nanjiani is all set to appear on the British panel show Taskmaster. A report by AV Club states that he will be joined by TV presenter Joel Dommett, comedian Amy Gledhill, Joanna Page, the Gavin & Stacey actor, as well as Armando Iannucci, the comedy writer and director.
