With so many anime titles released during the Winter 2026 anime season, one particular series caught our eye for its polished animation and intriguing narrative. The Dark Moon: The Blood Altar anime has become one of the more popular series from the season, and it is on its way toward the Season 1 finale as we speak.

While many of us are waiting to see how the Season 1 finale will live up to the anime’s reputation, others are already searching online for information regarding a Season 2. With that being said, let’s explore what the anime is about and what the chances are of a Dark Moon: The Blood Altar Season 2.

Dark Moon: The Blood Altar Season 2 Renewal Chances

The Dark Moon: The Blood Altar series debuted on January 9, 2026, with one of the most intriguing narratives in modern-day anime. The dark fantasy anime series is largely based on the concept of vampire and superhuman coexistence, and follows the narrative through the dorms of Decelis Academy, a night school. What makes the anime even more popular is that the characters are based on the irl members of ENHYPEN, the South Korean boy band.

While the school claims to have barred the entry of supernatural beings like Vampires and Werewolves, it seems the security isn’t that tight, as Sooha, a normal human with inhuman strength, enters the academy and meets Heli and other vampires already residing there. With the unique blend of dark fantasy and romance, the series is already high up on the watchlist of many viewers.

Now, coming to the real question: Is there a chance of a Dark Moon: The Blood Altar Season 2? Well, absolutely there is. Season 1 covers a fair portion of the first half of the 70 chapters (via Naver) of the Dark Moon: The Blood Altar series.

Furthermore, as of March 21, 2026, the Dark Moon: Two Moons, the sequel series, has released 20 episodes (via Naver). Season 2 of the anime will likely narratively resume the adaptation after the Season 1 finale, and Dark Moon: Two Moons might become the anime’s Season 3. While we don’t want to disappoint anyone, there is also the possibility that the series stops abruptly with just Season 1.

Many fan-favorite anime titles from the past haven’t received a sequel despite their popularity. For example, No Game No Life, despite having a decent fanbase, hasn’t yet been renewed for a sequel by anime studios. Likewise, The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses, 7th Time Loop, and numerous other series haven’t received the green light for a sequel.

As we don’t know what’s going to happen in the finale as of March 27, 2026, we cannot say for sure what Season 2 will be about. But if we did speculate on a general idea, it is likely going to be the continuation of the vampire fantasy saga as Sooha and the seven boys navigate deepened dangers after the events of Season 1.

Based on a general idea of how anime series work these days with their sequels, if there is going to be a Season 2, it could be somewhere around mid-2027. While you can always follow the franchise for updates (via the official website), the finale will be released on March 27, 2026, and the rest after that is only speculative for now.

A thing to note here is that while we say mid-2027, which is the Summer 2027 anime season, there is a chance of delay as well, which can also push Season 2’s release to early Fall 2027. Nevertheless, at this point, this is all hearsay and mere speculation, and we will update on the accurate timing once official word is released by Studio TROYCA or other official outlets for the anime series, like Crunchyroll.

There is also a high chance that Studio TROYCA might not even handle Season 2 of the anime, as production transfers are very common in the anime industry. The best examples would be Attack on Titan (Wit Studio to MAPPA), High School DxD (TNK to Passione), or even Vinland Saga (Wit Studio to MAPPA).
