One thing Marvel Studios has excelled at is putting Easter eggs tied to the comics in their productions. This has been particularly true of Daredevil: Born Again, which has a story inspired by several beloved comic. However, the Season 2 premiere featured a subplot which seems to subtly suggest one character’s dark death will be repeated in the MCU.
Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 opens six months after the end of the first season. Most of the episode is devoted to establishing the new status quo for the sizeable ensemble and seeing where they are now. In the case of Dr. Heather Glenn (Margarita Levieva), the psychiatrist seemed to be in a good place professionally. The first season ended with her as the newly appointed Mental Health Czar of New York City by Wilson Fisk. Personally, however, she seems to be in a bad place following her break-up with Matt Murdock.

Dr. Glenn was shown to be hallucinating the lurking presence of the villain Muse. The artistic serial killer nearly murdered Dr. Glenn in Daredevil: Born Again Season 1. She was also shown to have started drinking while she was at work. This was to drive away the visions of Muse and also to steady her nerves after she agreed to rig a psychiatric test for the corrupt District Attorney and Kingpin. The fact that she is mentally distraught, coupled with her increased drinking, seems to be teasing the fate of Heather Glenn in the Daredevil comics.
How Heather Glenn died in Daredevil comics
The original Heather Glenn was a drastically different character than her MCU incarnation in Daredevil: Born Again. The comics’ Heather Glenn was a socialite, who developed a crush on Matt Murdock. Unfortunately, after the two began dating, Matt’s alter-ego proved that Heather’s father was a criminal. While Matt was later able to prove Heather’s father been under the control of the Purple Man, she still hated Daredevil beyond reason.

Heather later discovered that Matt Murdock and Daredevil were one and the same. They tried to make their relationship work despite this, but things had become too toxic. Matt’s friends realized this and tried to force them apart with forged “Dear John” letters. This only strengthened Heather’s dependence on alcohol to cope. Ultimately, she took her own life in Daredevil #220, after tearfully calling Matt and begging him to help her.
Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 shows that Dr. Heather Glenn is facing similar issues with stress and is turning to the bottle to cope. This seems likely to be an ongoing issue as the season progresses. However, it remains to be seen if she can avoid the bitter end of her comics’ counterpart in the MCU.
