Cyberpunk 2077 will always be known for its incredible redemption arc, which culminated in the massive success of its spy-thriller expansion, Phantom Liberty. Hence, it should not come as a surprise that fans want more of Night City.
However, CD Projekt Red took to X to shut down the rumors of any upcoming “secret” DLCs or expansions for Cyberpunk 2077.
We have no plans for additional DLCs or expansions. If anything changes, we will inform you all!— Cyberpunk 2077 (@CyberpunkGame) March 10, 2026
The community had been hopeful that Cyberpunk 2077 would get another DLC. However, those dreams and hopes have been firmly dashed by CDPR as of now.

The speculations had been brewing since the game’s fifth anniversary last December (via PC Gamer). The hype for the supposed secret DLC was created by a financial report as well. CD Projekt’s CFO, Piotr Nielubowicz, mentioned heavily capitalized “secret projects” during a presentation (via Tweaktown).
All of this led the fans to believe that Cyberpunk 2077 will get a DLC. However, CDPR has continuously rejected that idea. And there’s a good reason behind it, too.
The technical reason why this secret DLC is impossible is due to the game engine. CD Projekt Red is completely abandoning its proprietary REDengine. Hence, Phantom Liberty and Update 2.1 were designed as the final send-offs for this engine.
CD Projekt Red’s SVP of Business Development, Michał Nowakowski, at the time reiterated this view as well. He outlined the sheer technicality of why Cyberpunk 2077 can’t get another DLC (via Wccftech).
It’s a technological decision, to be honest. This is the last time we’re working on the Red Engine for the time being at least, and in the foreseeable future as you know we are working on the Unreal Engine from Epic. This was one of the key reasons why we decided this was the only one.
However, this shift has left a section of fans worried about the performance of the future games. Yet this latest post should be a nail in the coffin for Cyberpunk 2077 DLCs.
The Witcher 3 Rumors That Sparked the Cyberpunk Hope

It’s no secret that the entire gaming industry has been buzzing with rumors of a new DLC for The Witcher 3. These rumors gained traction since they were being backed by industry insiders.
However, that has not been the case with Cyberpunk 2077, which gained major steam due to fans’ hopes. Credible rumors regarding The Witcher 3’s DLC made us all think that if a decade-old game can get a DLC, then Cyberpunk 2077 can as well.
However, there are material differences between the two. As per reports, this new expansion is being handled by Fool’s Theory (via ixbt.games). While CDPR has moved on to The Witcher 4, with a skeleton crew left to quash the bugs in Cyberpunk 2077.
