Popular sci-fi show, The Peripheral, which was canceled after one season on Prime Video, has recently become a huge success on the streaming platform. Created by Scott B. Smith, Season 1 of the series came out in October 2022. It features a talented cast, including Chloë Grace Moretz, Alexandra Billings, Jack Reynor, Gary Carr, Katie Leung, Louis Herthum, and more.

The Peripheral finds major streaming success worldwide

According to a new report, canceled sci-fi show The Peripheral has found streaming success on Prime Video.

Based on the data on Flix Patrol, The Peripheral is Number 1 in Nigeria and ranks under the Amazon Prime Top 10. Additionally, the show ranks Number 2 in Hungary, the Czech Republic, Romania, and South Africa. It has also ranked well in Finland, Belgium, and Switzerland.

While the show is witnessing massive success four years after its release, it faced cancellation in August 2023, according to a report by Variety. It is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by William Gibson.

Before canceling The Peripheral, Prime Video renewed it for Season 2. In a statement to the outlet in February 2023, former Amazon Studios global television head Vernon Sanders stated that Gibson’s story went on to create “an unforgettable journey for our global audience.”

Sanders also shared their excitement about working on the series. He further added that the studio was happy to continue their “partnership with Warner Bros. and Kilter Films as this uniquely ambitious series continues to unfold.”

However, a source conveyed to the outlet after the cancellation that the writers’ and actors’ strikes influenced the decision.

Meanwhile, critics lauded The Peripheral, and on Rotten Tomatoes, it scored 79 percent on the Tomatometer based on critic reviews. On the other hand, the show earned a satisfactory score of 85 percent on the Popcornmeter.
