Some new details about what the Avengers: The Kang Dynasty movie would have looked like have reportedly come to light.
Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday is currently in post-production. Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, also known as the Russo Brothers, the film will be released in less than a year. The sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, then arrives in December 2027.
Before announcing Avengers: Doomsday, Marvel initially planned for Avengers 4 to be Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. The movie was going to be directed by Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ Destin Daniel Cretton and would have seen Jonathan Majors reprise his villainous role as Kang the Conqueror. The MCU Kang storyline was scrapped, however, after Majors was fired by Disney following his legal troubles.
What is the update on the canceled Avengers movie?
While not much has ever been revealed about what The Avengers: Kang Dynasty would have looked like, scooper MyTimeToShineHello has shared some new details about the canceled MCU movie.
The post reads, “In this film, the TVA began gathering Anchor Beings from across the Multiverse, believing they are the only ones powerful enough to defeat the Council of Kangs. Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield were the Anchors for their respective realities, while Tom Holland’s Spider-Man served as the Anchor for Earth-616. The movie was intended to be smaller in scope compared to Secret Wars, focusing more on Holland’s Peter Parker, Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, and other Anchors like Nic Cage’s Ghost Rider. The plan was for all of them to ultimately fail, leading to the collapse of the Multiverse and Kang’s creation of Battleworld. This would then set the stage for Secret Wars, where other MCU characters and additional Multiverse figures would converge on Battleworld.”
This is only a rumor, as no official plot details for The Kang Dynasty have been released. Maguire, Garfield, Holland, Jackman, and Cage have not been announced to be part of the cast of either of the two upcoming Avengers movies.
Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on December 18, 2026. Avengers: Secret Wars follows on December 17, 2027.
