An actor who might be under consideration to play Brainiac in the DCU has been revealed.
Man of Tomorrow will be released in United States theaters in the summer of 2027. Directed by James Gunn, the DC Studios and Warner Bros. Pictures movie serves as a follow-up to 2025’s Superman. It will see David Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult reprise their respective roles as Clark Kent/Superman and Lex Luthor.
Who may have auditioned for the role of the DCU’s Brainiac?
While Gunn has yet to comment on the matter, it was recently confirmed by TheWrap that the main antagonist in Man of Tomorrow will be Brainiac. No actor has been publicly cast in the role as of yet; however, one name has begun to emerge as a possibility.
Scooper @ApocHorseman of Nexus Point News shared that he had heard that Claes Bang had tested for the role of the DCU’s Brainiac. The post, however, notes that “there’s a handful of others who are going to be tested, so it’s undecided.”
Bang is known for playing the titular character in the 2020 Dracula series that originally premiered on BBC One before it was released on Netflix. He has also had roles on television shows like The Affair, The Outlaws, Bad Sisters, and The New Look. As far as movies go, Bang played the lead part of Christian in Ruben Östlund’s The Square, while his filmography further includes 2011’s Jungle Child, 2018’s The Girl in the Spider’s Web, 2022’s The Northman, 20205’s The Great Arch, and more.
Given that any Brainiac casting is likely far from being finished, this should just be taken as a rumor at this time until an official announcement is made.
Man of Tomorrow arrives on July 9, 2027. Superman, meanwhile, is currently available to stream on HBO Max.
