Avengers: Secret Wars has received a production update.
Marvel Studios‘ Avengers: Secret Wars serves as the sequel to Avengers: Doomsday. Both movies are being directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, also known as the Russo Brothers. Avengers: Doomsday is now in post-production and will arrive in 2026, while Secret Wars is currently dated for 2027.
What is the latest Avengers: Secret Wars update?
Per The Hollywood Reporter, Avengers: Secret Wars will be filming this upcoming summer. A production listing shared by Hollywood North Buzz previously stated that the movie will reportedly begin production in April 2026 and that it’s expected to last until September. This may end up being true, but now MCU fans can be guaranteed that the sequel has a similar production plan to Avengers: Doomsday, meaning there shouldn’t be any fear of delays.
The news comes as Marvel fans anxiously await the release of the first teaser trailer for Avengers: Doomsday, which is attached to Avatar: Fire and Ash. That movie hits theaters on December 19, 2025, though it’s unclear if the trailer will be immediately available to watch online at this time.
Plot details for both Doomsday and Secret Wars remain under wraps at this time. No casting for Secret Wars has yet been announced, though it’s assumed that many of the actors who are starring in Doomsday will reprise their roles in Secret Wars.
