Kelsey Grammer is opening up about Beast’s return in Avengers: Doomsday.
Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday is currently in production. Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, also known as the Russo Brothers, the film will see Grammer once again reprise his X-Men role as Hank McCoy/Beast.
Grammer played Beast in 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand. Following an uncredited cameo in 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past, the character then made his official MCU debut in the post-credit scene of 2023’s The Marvels.
Grammer won’t be the only X-Men character featured in Avengers: Doomsday, either, as the cast of the movie also includes Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier/Professor X, Ian McKellen as Erik Lehnsherr/Magneto, Alan Cumming as Kurt Wagner/Nightcrawler, Rebecca Romijn as Raven Darkhölme/Mystique, James Marsden as Scott Summers/Cyclops, and Channing Tatum as Remy LeBeau/Gambit.
What did Kelsey Grammer say about playing X-Men’s Beast again?
Appearing on a recent episode of Literally! With Rob Lowe, Grammer said that he hasn’t seen any of the X-Men movies that star Nicholas Hoult as a younger version of Beast.
“I heard lovely things about the young man that ended up playing Beast, but I didn’t really watch it,” he said. “I nursed the hope that one day I’d get to play him again.”
Grammer further recalled filming the post-credit scene for The Marvels in secrecy, which he said led to “an apparently pretty breathtaking” response from fans. He continued, “They called me a while later and said, we think we wanna put you in another movie. So I’m really excited about it.”
When asked if there’s anything he can share about Avengers: Doomsday or if there was a script for the movie, Grammer said, “I’ve had a preliminary introduction to the idea. They’re still very secretive about the script, which is okay. Industrial espionage, you know.”
Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday will be released in United States theaters on May 1, 2026. Whether or not Grammer will also appear in the 2027 Avengers: Secret Wars movie remains to be seen.
