Marvel Studios is gearing up to begin reshoots on Avengers: Doomsday. Set to take place from April through the end of May, the reshoots will reportedly add a crucial element to the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe crossover movie.
Principal photography on Doomsday lasted from April 28, 2025, to September 19, 2025. When filming wrapped, The Hollywood Reporter stated that Marvel Studios was planning on doing a “healthy” amount of reshoots on the MCU movie. Last month, David Harbour revealed that he would be returning to London soon for the reshoots, while scooper MAJESTIC_ucm has indicated that Brie Larson, Teyonah Parris, and Elizabeth Olsen will also be taking part in some additional photography.
What are the Avengers: Doomsday reshoots adding to the MCU movie?
Now, in a new Patreon post, scooper Daniel Richtman revealed that most of the Doomsday reshoots will be for new character-focused scenes. Fans will likely be pleased to hear that, as the Multiverse Saga has paled in comparison to the Infinity Saga when it comes to having its main characters interacting with one another. For instance, Doomsday will be the first time fans see Sam Wilson’s new Avengers team in action, while the New Avengers (formerly the Thunderbolts) have only been together for one movie.
Part of what made the early era of the MCU so exciting for fans was never knowing when an established character might pop up in another project for a cameo. Nick Fury, Black Widow, Phil Coulson, Peggy Carter, Happy Hogan, and even Avengers Iron Man and Captain America made frequent appearances through the first three phases of the MCU, which went a long way in making the MCU feel truly connected.
The Multiverse Saga hasn’t had the same luck. Possibly due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2023 Hollywood strikes, there has been little to no crossover between the various Phase 4 through 6 projects. The lack of an Avengers movie at the end of Phase 4 meant that fans have not seen most of the new characters since their MCU debut, like Shang-Chi, She-Hulk, Clea, Namor, White Vision, and Moon Knight.
More importantly, fans haven’t seen these characters interact with one another. With the Avengers, New Avengers, Fantastic Four, and X-Men set to come together to battle Doctor Doom, fans were worried that there wouldn’t be enough time in Avengers: Doomsday to properly establish all of these teams. Marvel Studios is seemingly addressing these concerns with the character-focused reshoots.
Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to hit theaters on December 18, 2026.
