The Russo brothers might’ve spoiled a major connection between Robert Downey Jr’s Doom and Iron Man in Avengers: Doomsday. While we’ve been given nothing but breadcrumbs to work with when it comes to Doomsday and its potential narrative, a cryptic tease from the directors’ production company, AGBO, has left many fans enticed.
The post in question is a TikTok video, which sees two of AGBO’s members partaking in the bees in the trap challenge. But here’s the catch: The two were wearing Iron Man and Doctor Doom masks. Although it’s possible that nothing much of substance will come from this speculation, given how big a draw Iron Man was, with RDJ returning, the possibility is certainly there.
One MCU Director is Assured Avengers: Doomsday Will Revitalize CBMS
For all the criticisms that the MCU has received from many filmmaking giants, one notable auteur, Shane Black, remains excited about Doomsday. Having delivered one of the best MCU movies to date with Iron Man 3, which is more of a Shane Black movie than an MCU movie, the director is certain that Doomsday will breathe new energy into the genre.

Despite not following the entirety of the MCU and its output, Black will be first in line to experience Doomsday, and even though RDJ’s casting as Doom did raise some eyebrows, he’s assured this will work in the MCU’s favor (via ComicBook.com).
I think he’s going to singlehandedly reinvigorate the entire comic book movie industry with that. I mean, it seemed like at first a cynical idea, you know, ‘Oh, let’s just go back to the well of the one guy that seems to always save us.’ But it’s going to work. It’s really going to work.
Whether Avengers: Doomsday will reinvigorate the genre, which has seen some rough years, remains to be seen.
Robert Downey Jr’s Doomsday Is Described As a Love Letter to the Genre
Shane Black isn’t the only one who has high hopes for the movie, as Shang-Chi star Simu Liu described the movie as a love letter to the entire genre of superheroes, which is understandable.

Considering almost every legacy franchise under the Marvel banner is rumored to appear in Doomsday, it’s easy to anticipate another No Way Home-adjacent event. This will also mark Liu’s return as Shang-Chi, who initially made his MCU debut back in 2022 (via ScreenRant).
I mean, there are just so many actors in it, and getting to work with those people as peers is really incredible because I grew up watching so many of them. It feels, in a lot of ways, like a love letter to the entire genre of superhero movies. And I think there’s something really fun about that.
With all the hype clouding Doomsday, which remains still a year away from release, if it doesn’t get delayed further, hopefully, it’ll live up to the heights of the previous Avengers movies.
Do you think Iron Man and Doom will face off in Doomsday?
Avengers: Doomsday will release on December 18, 2026.
