Assassin’s Creed Mirage may have been released for only 9 months but it still holds appeal to many fans of the franchise. The most recent Ubisoft entry was released in October 2023 and with it came a stripped-back approach in terms of the gameplay, which differed from the majority of its predecessors.

This led to one well-experienced developer remarking about how much they have enjoyed the gameplay and its streamlined experience. Given the popular franchises that the developer has worked on, this is certainly someone who has intimate knowledge of what it takes to make a game successful.

Del Walker recently took to Social Media site X, commenting, “Assassins Creed Mirage is the most authentic Creed experience in so long.” It certainly is high praise coming from a developer who has worked on both The Last of Us and Batman: Arkham Knight.

Assassins Creed Mirage is the most authentic Creed experience in so long. I’ve seen mixed reception because it doesn’t have crafting, RPG elements, and complex skill trees. Just pure sneaking and assassinating among rich culture – which I actually prefer. Top tier. pic.twitter.com/8TysXUUuJV— Del Walker ???????? (@TheCartelDel) July 1, 2024

The comments on Walker’s post regarding Assassin’s Creed Mirage were somewhat mixed. Many of the players gave praise for the game but felt the storyline was too short. However, much like Walker’s own view, many players enjoyed that the game focused more on the stealth angle without the distraction of extra features.

SUGGESTED“I can give you three quick examples”: Assassin’s Creed Mirage Had 3 Major Historical Inaccuracies As “It helps gameplay”

Obviously, with the experience that Walker has with the previous titles he has worked on, he is well versed in the aspect of stealth. With his work on Batman: Arkham Knight, he would have first-hand knowledge of this aspect, given how prominent a part it plays in the Dark Knight games.

Will This Stripped Back Approach Continue?

Whilst the reaction to Mirage and it’s back-to-basics approach has been well received by many fans of the franchise, it appears that Ubisoft may have dropped the ball by omitting one stealth feature. The upcoming Assassin’s Creed Shadows game which is due for release in November, has reportedly decided against the social stealth feature, much to fans’ disbelief.

SUGGESTED“This, for me, was absolutely essential”: What Assassin’s Creed Mirage Did For Baghdad’s Historical Accuracy Will Make You Hate The Game A Little Less

There are still a certain group of fans who are trying to get the Assassin’s Creed Shadows game cancelled, citing a lack of historical accuracy. However, with most games in the Assassin’s Creed franchise, there is a certain artistic liberty taken to improve the gameplay and this has been prevalent since the first entry way back in 2007.

Whilst many fans regard Mirage as one of the better entries into the Assassin’s Creed franchise as of late, developers Ubisoft would be mindful to take on comments from fans in respect of the stealth element for their upcoming game. It will be interesting to see whether Assassin’s Creed Shadows garners the same reaction as its predecessor.
