“Angels Can Rule Demons” – Gbadebo Chinedu Rhodes … but is Babajide Sanwo Olu a good man ?

Spread the love

His Excellency Mr Babajide Sanwo- Olu is a good man and have done well for Lagos inspite of the fact that like other Governors since 2007 he was selected and appointed (not elected) and thus had no choice but to be loyal to the one that installed him.

However like I said yesterday, the vibe from Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivor has strongly been tugging at my heart and so I have finally decided that on Saturday I will be voting for him.I have never been a card carrying member of any political party and so I dont vote along party lines or loyalty. Therefore it is very easy for me to change my mind with a clear conscience!
I am usually attracted to the underdog and in the last couple of days,I have found the whole enthnic sentiments being whipped up about the man very irritating simply because the man’s father married an Igbo woman and the guy followed suit. That to some people is what should disqualify him from becoming the Governor of Lagos State despite the fact that he comes from a Yoruba family with an impeccable pedigree whose history is straight forward and well known unlike that of some people.
Having said that,please listen to Gbadebo Rhodes Vivor, my candidate for the Lagos State Gubernatorial Elections;
*Why they are calling me Omo Ale – Gbadebo Rhodes – Vivour (GRV)*
1. I am their worst nightmare; a true Lagosian. The great grandson of an eminent indigenous Lagosian, Justice SB rhodes, a founding father of both the Nigerian executive and judiciary who served on the executive council of Nigeria with Adeyemo Alakija and together with similarly minded nationalists built Lagos, a credit they and their leader have been trying to steal.
2. They do not want a true Lagosian to rule lagos as no true son of Lagos would allow their unchecked rape of Lagos state resources to continue. Why do you think Funso Williams was killed?
3. I pledged to take the money (10% of Lagos state IGR) they are siphoning through Alpha beta and use it to empower 1 million poor Lagosians with interest free loans.
4. My father Barrister Olawale Rhodes-vivour a distinguished, detribalized true son of Lagos who embodies the Lagos spirit of accommodation fell in love with and married my wonderful mother Nkechi from the igbo tribe and I Gbadebo (‘The one who brings the crown’) Chinedu ( ‘God is leading’) Patrick(‘of noble origin’) was born. The fact I would live up to my names and fulfill my destiny to bring back the crown they have stolen scares them.
5. They are scared that the circumstances of my birth (half yoruba half Igbo) and my family’s pedigree (Rhodes – Vivour history of unblemished public service) makes it easy for both members of the Igbo and yoruba tribes in Lagos to support, trust and see me as one of their own. My soaring acceptance and political profile as a unifier amongst the yorubas, Igbos, youths and all other tribes in Lagos state scares them so much that they’ve resorted to sponsoring hungry igbo and yoruba influencers to go on the social media space to promote an Igbo takeover agenda that does not exist and tag Lagos as a no man’s land in the hopes of linking it to me with an intent to incite my people, the yoruba against me. They are afraid I’ll take the government from them and bring it back for the benefit of the people of Lagos.
6. I refused their bribe offer of 20 billion naira to sell out my ticket and step down from the Governorship race for Sanwoolu. They can’t believe I would reject this offer to betray our cause. My refusal is why they’ve tagged me otherwise that I inherited the stubbornness from my mother’s side.
7. I supported and coordinated the campaign of Mr Peter Obi the most competent presidential candidate over a questionable candidate from my tribe.
8. I have the evidence and I am insisting on going to court with Mr Peter Obi to prove that the presidential election results figures in Lagos was tampered with and rigged and he Peter Obi won Lagos overwhelmingly with 936,000 votes against their leader’s paltry 155,000 votes which is not up to 25% of the total votes cast in Lagos and despite all their entreaties and the people they’ve sent to beg me using parapoism, I refused to back down.
9. I have a plan to rehabilitate the Agberos and thugs they only use for their dirty work and reintegrate them back into the society as responsible citizens.
10. I promised to fix the bad roads in all parts of Lagos, from Ikotun, Ijegun, satellite town, Lagos – badagry expressway and ikorodu to sagamu express way irrespective of the predominant tribe living there in order to boost international trade in Lagos.
11. I pledged to provide affordable housing to all Lagosians and stop the racket that goes on with Government built homes.
12. I am the biggest threat to their succession plan which will see Seyi Tinubu become governor after Sanwoolu.
The governorship candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in Lagos State, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour’s election campaign has been energised following last Saturday’s presidential election result that saw his presidential candidate, Peter Obi, floor his counterpart in the ruling party of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu (now president-elect), in his home state.

The 39-year-old governorship hopeful, who has stepped up his campaign drive, called on Lagosians, especially the youths, not to be deterred by the outcome of Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly elections, but to come out en masse and vote out the ruling APC in the guber and state assemblies’ polls.

Riding on the victory of his party in Lagos State during the presidential polls, Rhodes-Vivour is currently trending on social media platforms with reactions trailing his performance in the debate organised by The Platform, a civic discussion initiative of The Covenant Centre (the Covenant Christian Centre).

Speaking on the just-concluded presidential election, Gbadebo said his party won in places where the opposition, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has never won in two decades such as Alimosho, Ikeja, and several other places.

He also said the victory of the Labour Party in Lagos State is not along tribal lines.

According to him, “This was not a tribal victory. We won in places where the opposition has never won in two decades; we won in Alimosho, we won in Ikeja and several other places,” he said.

He said Mr Peter Obi’s votes in Lagos were manipulated because results weren’t electronically transmitted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The LP candidate claimed that his party won over 900,000 votes and this was because the youths came out.

Gbadebo, who rejected the process by which the results were announced because it was not done electronically as promised by INEC, said: “From our situation room, we see that we won over 900,000 votes and this was all because you came out.

“This was won without any voter inducement. We cannot stop thanking the good people of Lagos. We made history in that election; we took Lagos State and restored it to the people.

“We unequivocally reject the process by which the results were announced because it was not electronical as promised by INEC,” he said.

Rhodes-Vivour, who said the turnout of voters in Lagos State in Saturday’s election was unprecedented, expressed confidence that he is going to unseat Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of the APC on March 11 at the polls.

The LP flag bearer shared his plans for curbing insecurity, citing youth unemployment as a menace and the major driver of political violence in the state.

He promised to ensure that young people get employability skills that will be domiciled in the local government areas, adding that his government will put an end to police harassment.

Before now, there has not been what Lagosians consider a true contest for the position of the state governorship seat at the polls since the ruling APC took the reins of the state in 1999.

The political battle which has always been between the ruling APC and the leading opposition party, PDP, is now going to witness a third force that will give the ruling party a fierce battle in the March 11 governorship election.

While it is only expected that APC will go all out to make amends for the presidential election upset, LP is riding high on the wings of same upsets it caused across the country. March 11 is another D-Day.
