Sandra Bullock went on a hiatus a few years ago after suffering heartbreak from the death of the love of her life, Bryan Randall, but it seems like she’s slowly bouncing back to the surface. This is because recently, the actress, 61, was spotted driving her 15-year-old son, Louis, and her puppy, Sweetie, in Los Angeles on November 12.
As reported by the Daily Mail, sporting dark sunglasses with her hair pulled back in a messy bun, Bullock had a calm expression on her face, and it looked like any other normal day for the Oscar winner. Her poodle, on the other hand, hung its furry face out of the window as it snuggled into the Miss Congeniality actress.
From what it seems like, Bullock’s gradual return to the public eye might be in anticipation of the release of the upcoming sequel to Practical Magic on September 18, 2026. And, with that said, here’s a look at how she is reportedly healing from her heartbreak and slowly making her comeback in Hollywood after her hiatus.

Following her heartbreak, it was reported that Sandra Bullock’s friends, led by Jennifer Aniston, Keanu Reeves, and Nicole Kidman, have ostensibly been instrumental in her decision to return to public life. As it turns out, they have reportedly been extending their love and support to her privately during what was one of the toughest times of her life.
As an insider claimed about the actress recently (per reports from Heat World):
Sandra has this incredible circle of close friends, women, and a handful of guys, too, that she’s known for decades. They’ve all stepped up for her in different ways, and she says all the time how blessed she is to have such wonderful friends.
While she is pretty active in her journey to healing, her friends are really helping her out. The source said,
She’s very proactive in her healing journey, and she does therapy, which has been a huge help. And while her children are, of course, number one, she says it’s her friends who have also played such a huge role in getting her through this awful time.
The source continued to claim that Bullock spends time with her friends and family during this tough time, who are reportedly more than happy to lend their support to her privately. The insider claimed that “there are girls’ nights at Jen’s pretty regularly,” though the actress “just prefers to stay home.” The source said,
Not that she has a ton of downtime, her son is a teenager now, so she’s constantly chauffeuring him around, and her daughter has a lot of activities too, so she’s kept very busy. But there are still hard days, when she really misses Bryan and feels lonely. She’s still adjusting to life without him, she’s still mourning him.
But even as she continues to mourn her late lover, Sandra Bullock’s friends are doing everything they can to help her out, and now she also appears to be slowly making her comeback in Hollywood.

Though she has largely been absent from public events since losing Bryan Randall, Sandra Bullock is quietly preparing for her Hollywood return amidst the deep loss. For one, she seems to have some products lined up for release in the near future, preparing her for a new professional chapter in her career, per The Blast (via Yahoo!).
Earlier this year, she was reported to be teaming again with Keanu Reeves for a new romantic thriller with Amazon MGM Studios, with this untitled movie reportedly promising a fast-paced story full of suspense and romance. Both Bullock and Reeves will work as producers on this flick, which is written by Noah Oppenheim.
Then there’s also Practical Magic 2, on which she was working with her close pal, Nicole Kidman. This new project has reportedly been really helpful for Bullock in her healing process as well. As a source claimed to Heat World regarding the filming process of this upcoming sequel and of spending time in London, saying,
Shooting Practical Magic in London over the summer was incredibly cathartic. Her kids came with her, and on her days off, they explored the city together. They made a lot of wonderful memories. She also knew that reuniting with everyone she knew and particularly with Nicole would feed her soul. Nicole is very much like a sister to her. Of course, she wished Bryan could be experiencing it with them, it’s not as though he wasn’t on her mind, but the change of scenery did help lift some of the grief.
So, for now, Bullock is working on two projects: One with Reeves, with whom she last collaborated in 2006 on The Lake House, and the other with Kidman, her very close pal.

When Sandra Bullock went on a hiatus from acting, she wasn’t shy about revealing her plans while promoting The Lost City in 2022, which was her last film before her hiatus. During the press tour for the movie, she revealed to The Hollywood Reporter,
I’m so burnt out. I’m so tired, and I’m so not capable of making healthy, smart decisions, and I know it. I just want to be 24/7 with my babies [Louis and daughter Laila] and my family. That’s where I’m gonna be for a while.
For those who might not know, Louis and Laila are Bullock’s adopted children. She built a home with her lover, Bryan Randall, until it was revealed that Randall was battling with ALS, which truly devastated her. Following his death in 2023, she pretty much disappeared from the public eye while grieving, spending more time with her children.
Now that she is reportedly all set to mark her return to the screens, it will be truly interesting to see her jump into roles once again after so long. Don’t you agree?
