The first look at the Robins in Absolute Batman has been revealed.
Absolute Batman is the DC Comics series written by Scott Snyder and illustrated by Nick Dragotta. Having launched in 2024, the series is part of DC’s Absolute Universe imprint. It takes place in a reality other than Prime Earth and reimagines Batman/Bruce Wayne as a 24-year-old blue-collar civil engineer.
Many iconic DC characters have been introduced throughout the course of Absolute Batman, as the series has earned a reputation for redesigning villains to be more monstrous than ever before. It was previously known that Absolute Batman #20 would introduce Robin(s) into the Absolute Universe, as the cover for the issue was originally redacted in order to keep the new designs a secret.
Just yesterday, Snyder said that the covers would be revealed later this week, explaining, “To give retailers enough time to allow people to order issue 20 before FOC 2 weeks from today, we’re going to reveal the cover to 20 this Wednesday. It’s not ideal as the cover shows our concept of Robin, but we don’t want to hamstring retailers either.”
What do the Robins in Absolute Batman look like?
Now, however, Snyder has shared the full Absolute Batman #20 cover, which is done by Dragotta and colorist Frank Martin, a day early.
Snyder wrote, “Hey everyone, because some of the images are starting to appear out there, DC has decided to reveal the cover of ABSOLUTE BATMAN 20 today! In May ,THE ROBINS enter the story in a huge way…Really excited for you guys to see what we have planned – and to hear your thoughts!”

The Absolute Batman #20 depicts at least two of the Robins as giant mechas. Judging by the color scheme, the two robots seem to be operated by Jason Todd and Dick Grayson, while Tim Drake, Duke Thomas, and Stephanie Brown appear to be facing Batman on the ground; however, all bets are off when it comes to the Absolute Universe, meaning fans are going to have to wait until the issue is released on May 13, 2026, to find out for sure.
The solicitation reads, “A TRAGIC LOSS ROCKS GOTHAM CITY! As the dust settles in the city of Gotham after the loss of [redacted], Robins enter the scene ready to hunt and more than one secret will be revealed in this seminal issue.”
