Crossover battles are always fun to talk about, and Hunter x Hunter vs Dragon Ball is one fans bring up a lot. Adult Gon, the version from the Chimera Ant arc, is easily one of the scariest characters in the series. This is when he was at his peak and became one of the strongest in the entire verse.
He used a forbidden Nen technique to instantly age himself up, and the payoff was a punch strong enough to take down Neferpitou, one of the Chimera Ant King’s Royal Guards, in a single hit. That kind of raw power and speed puts him way above most fighters in his own show. But how does that all scale against characters from Dragon Ball? Here are six Dragon Ball fighters Adult Gon could plausibly take down.
1. Yamcha – One of the Toughest Opponents

Note that we are talking about Dragon Ball era Yamcha, not the DBZ one. His speed and combat experience make him tricky to pin down, which is why he counts as one of the tougher names on this list. It would take a lot of effort for Gon to actually keep up with him. But once Gon actually lands a hit, it’s over.
Gon’s punch was strong enough to one-shot a Chimera Ant Royal Guard, and Yamcha just doesn’t have the durability to take a hit anywhere close to that level. Yamcha can dodge for a while, but he can’t dodge forever.
2. Chiaotzu – Gon’s Physicality Overwhelms Him Fast

Even in Dragon Ball, Chiaotzu is more of a support fighter than a brawler. His telekinesis is annoying, but it doesn’t do much against someone with Gon’s strength and speed, especially once the fight is in close quarters. Gon simply overwhelms him physically in every way. The one thing that could flip the script is Chiaotzu’s self-destruct move, which can honestly go either way. Still, odds are in Gon’s favor.
3. Nam – Endurance Isn’t the Same as Durability

Nam is built around insane stamina and quick, springy legs, which is exactly what let him go the distance with Goku at the 21st Tenkaichi Budokai. That kind of endurance is a real problem for a lot of opponents, but it’s a different skill set from actually being able to take a Chimera Ant-level punch.
Gon doesn’t need to outlast Nam. As long as Adult Gon lands one clean shot, and Nam has nothing in his kit that suggests he can survive that, Nam will lose.
4. Mercenary Tao Cannot Take a Direct Hit From Adult Gon

Tao’s Dodon Ray is nasty from a distance, and he’s a peak-human fighter underneath the gadgets and assassin skills. However, once Gon gets in close, which doesn’t take long given his speed, Tao has nothing left that can stop a direct hit. If Gon can shake a mountain, he can break Tao’s body. His whole strategy depends on staying at range, and Gon’s whole strategy is making sure that never happens.
5. Gon’s Aggression Is Too Much for General Blue to Handle

General Blue’s paralysis power needs eye contact and a bit of setup time to actually work. Adult Gon doesn’t really give opponents that kind of breathing room, as he is all about speed and aggression. His aggressive, fast approach makes it hard for Blue to ever get the chance to use his ability properly, and without it, General Blue just doesn’t have the power to trade blows with Gon.
6. Giran – All Trickery, No Follow-Through

Giran’s gimmick is that sticky gum he spits out to trap opponents before they can close the distance, and against a normal fighter, that’s a real problem. Against Gon, however, it simply won’t work. Gon’s speed makes it hard for Giran to line the trap up in the first place, and Giran’s actual power output once the gum fails isn’t anywhere near enough to deal with a fighter who can one-shot a Royal Guard.
