Oricon’s July 2026 Monthly Comic Ranking placed Eiichiro Oda’s manga at No. 1, with Volume 115 in Japan (via Oricon Japan). It beat major releases from Hunter x Hunter, The Apothecary Diaries, Daemons of the Shadow Realm, and One-Punch Man.
The result is even more impressive because Hunter x Hunter had just returned with its first new volume in nearly 22 months. Yet One Piece still managed to stay comfortably ahead while the Final Saga continues to heat up.
One Piece Leaves Major Manga Behind to Become Japan’s Top Seller
The latest Oricon July ranking tracks overall estimated manga sales in Japan from June 29 to August 2 (via @WSJ_manga on Twitter/X). One Piece quickly moved to the top with 1,437,565 copies sold overall.
Hunter x Hunter took second place with 1,022,577 copies. Yoshihiro Togashi’s manga had a huge reason to attract readers, as the latest Volume 39 was its first in 22 months. Still, One Piece sold around 414,988 more copies.
The Apothecary Diaries came third with 325,292 copies. Daemons of the Shadow Realm followed with 291,059, while One-Punch Man, coming in 6th place, sold 233,415 copies. This gives One Piece a huge lead over some of manga’s biggest names. It also adds to the series’ already massive legacy.

The Final Saga Could Keep One Piece On Top
There is also a good reason why One Piece is getting so much attention right now. The manga’s Final Saga has reached the Elbaf Arc, where Luffy is getting closer to the biggest secrets of the world. Chapter 1190 of One Piece made things even more serious when Scopper Gaban steps in to save Luffy from Imu’s deadly attack.

His battle with Imu proves that the old Roger Pirate is still incredibly strong. However, Gaban pays a terrible price. Chapter 1190 ends with him losing his left arm below the elbow while fighting Imu. The moment also creates a striking parallel with Shanks. Years ago, Shanks lost his left arm while saving a young Luffy. Now, another former Roger Pirate loses his left arm while protecting the same future Pirate King.
Gaban’s sacrifice could become an important moment for Luffy. It may push him to fight Imu with even greater determination, although it is still unclear whether this will lead to a new Gear or simply bring out more of his existing power.
On the other hand, the Elbaf Arc anime adaptation is also currently streaming on Crunchyroll, with Netflix also carrying the series depending on the region. With the manga dominating the sales charts and the anime bringing Elbaf to more viewers, One Piece has plenty of momentum behind it, which could help the manga to retain a top position in the upcoming months as well.
