The directors of Avengers: Doomsday have revealed an image related to Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom. The movie is currently scheduled to be released in United States theaters this December.

Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday comes from directors Joe and Anthony Russo, also known as the Russo Brothers. That movie is being followed by a sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, which will be released in 2027.

What do we see in the Avengers: Doomsday image?

The official Russo Brothers Instagram page has unveiled the first look at Doctor Doom’s Latveria flag in Avengers: Doomsday. In Marvel Comics lore, Latveria is a fictional country in Eastern Europe that is ruled by Doctor Doom. How Latveria factors into Avengers: Doomsday’s plot remains to be seen, as story details remain under wraps at this time.

Thus far, Marvel has released four Avengers: Doomsday teaser trailers. The first teaser announced that Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers is officially returning to the MCU, while the second one focused on Chris Hemsworth’s Thor and the third on a handful of X-Men characters. The fourth and final teaser put the spotlight on Letitia Wright’s Shuri/Black Panther, Ebon Moss-Bachrach’s Ben Grimm/The Thing, and more. An Avengers: Doomsday trailer was also shown at CinemaCon earlier this year, though that footage has not been released online.

Avengers: Doomsday arrives on December 18, 2026. Avengers: Secret Wars is dated for December 17, 2027.
