A24 has unveiled the first trailer for Primetime, which sees Robert Pattinson as Chris Hansen, a figure who became synonymous with True Crime television for helping expose numerous alleged predators during To Catch a Predator’s original run. The trailer is structured in a split-screen format, reminiscent of the Dateline show’s structure, and Pattinson, notable for his chameleonic vocal prowess, seemingly nails Hansen’s vocal flair with eerie precision.
The movie comes from documentarian Lance Oppenheim, who marks his feature directorial debut with this A24 drama, which also serves as another enticing addition to Robert Pattinson’s already stacked 2026 lineup.
Primetime Will Dramatize the Early Exploits of To Catch a Predator
The upcoming A24 movie will chronicle the rise of Dateline’s To Catch a Predator, which became a massive cultural phenomenon during its original run. The show followed Hansen and his team as they set up sting operations to confront alleged predators who showed up at a decoy house believing they were going to have s-x with a minor.
It remains unclear whether the movie will delve into the controversies surrounding the show, including the legal scrutiny and the infamous 2006 incident involving assistant district attorney Louis Conradt, who died by suicide as police arrived at his home (via CBS).
But given how much of a cultural touchstone the show was during its height, whose popularity has also translated in the age of social media, this is shaping up to be another major hit for both A24 and Pattinson.

Although no concrete release date has been unveiled, Primetime is currently expected to premiere this fall. This continues Pattinson’s impressive streak, as after starring in the A24 hit The Drama, which has become one of the studio’s highest-grossing movies, the actor will also star in one of the biggest Summer tentpoles, Christopher Nolan‘s The Odyssey.
As for the latter half of the year, in addition to the Chris Hansen movie, The Batman star will also appear opposite Denzel Washington in Here Comes the Flood, an unconventional heist movie slated to release this year. And if that wasn’t impressive enough, The Lighthouse star will round out the year with one of the most anticipated movies of the year, Dune 3, which stars him in the shoes of Scytale.
Given how drastically different all of these projects are from one another, the 2026 slate further serves as a testament to Robert Pattinson’s prowess as a chameleon-like performer and an incredibly committed worker.
