The Boys showrunner has picked the winner between Superman and Homelander. Eric Kripke has revealed who he believes would win between the two mighty superhero characters and why.
Eric Kripke explains why Homelander could defeat Superman
Speaking with The Wrap, The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke chose Homelander over Superman. While giving his reason for picking Homelander as the winner, he explained, “I mean, obviously, I got to give to my boy Homelander. The thing is Homelander will fight dirty.”
He added, “Is Superman stronger pound for pound? Probably. But is Homelander willing to murder Lois Lane and rip off Jimmy Olsen’s face and wear it as his own face? And you know, rip Krypto limb from limb?”
Underlining the key factor that gives Homelander an edge over the Man of Steel, he said, “Homelander just doesn’t have the morality that Superman does and that’s a strong advantage.”

Homelander fans would agree with his point, given how both the characters operate on a personal level. Superman is a righteous individual, whereas Homelander is someone who doesn’t care about ethics, rules, or morals and would go to any length to defeat his opponent, even if he failed to win using his powers alone.
Speaking more of Homelander, the showrunner recently explained why he chose to end the character’s arc with a brutal death in Season 5 Episode 8. He wanted viewers to see Homelander rendered completely powerless. “Take away those powers and you are nothing,” he said. “So, he cannot walk out of that room alive, but we can spend time with him powerless to really reveal what everyone’s been saying all season,” he added.
The Boys Season 5 is now streaming with all its episodes on Prime Video. While the show is over, it will continue to exist through a new spin-off, Vought Rising, which will be released next year.
