Following the release of Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 last month, Netflix has added another one of its latest collaborations with Stranger Things creators Matt and Ross Duffer to its TV library. As of today, all eight episodes of the newest star-studded sci-fi series, The Boroughs, are finally available to stream on Netflix.
What do we know about the Stranger Things creators’ newest Netflix show?
The Boroughs is led by Alfred Molina as Sam, Geena Davis as Renee, Alfre Woodard as Judy, Denis O’Hare as Wally, Clarke Peters as Art, Bill Pullman as Jack, Carlos Miranda as Paz, Jena Malone as Claire, Seth Numrich as Blaine, and Alice Kremelberg as Anneliese. The show is created and executive-produced by showrunners Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews, with The Duffer Brothers serving as executive producers for Upside Down Pictures.
So far, the show has already garnered a 93% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 14 reviews. Additional cast includes Ed Begley Jr., Dee Wallace, Eric Edelstein, Rafael Casal, Mousa Hussein Kraish, Beth Bailey, Karan Soni, Jane Kaczmarek, and more. Executive producers are Hilary Leavitt and Ben Taylor, with Matthew Jensen and Michaelle Lawler directing multiple episodes.
“In the sun-drenched expanse of the New Mexico desert lies The Boroughs, a picturesque retirement community promising its residents the time of their lives. But for the new arrival, Sam Cooper, paradise feels more like a prison. Everything changes when a terrifying nighttime encounter reveals that something monstrous is stalking the manicured cul-de-sacs,” reads the show’s official synopsis. “Dismissed by the powers that be as just another confused old man, Sam finds unlikely allies in a band of neighborhood misfits: a sharp-witted former journalist, a spiritual seeker, a cynical music manager, and a brilliant doctor running out of options. Overlooked and underestimated, these unlikely heroes must band together to unravel the dark truth at the heart of The Boroughs before their time runs out.”
