In the One Piece Chapter 1182, we saw that Sanji and Zoro finally recovered after being absolutely dominated by Imu and started pacing towards the battlefield to join the fight. However, they set their new targets on Sommers and Killingham instead of Imu. While Zoro focuses on Sommers, Sanji shifts his focus to Killingham, who summoned his strongest MMA in the series yet – Zaza, the Rain Goddess.
While many of us got an introductory glimpse of Zaza in the previous chapter so far, the spoilers for the upcoming chapter indicate that we’ll be seeing more of her. According to spoilers, Sanji will fight Zaza in Chapter 1183, which might be Sanji’s biggest fight in the series so far. Zaza is one of the few characters in the series who is terrifying to even the Marines and World Government.
However, the massive battle of powerscaling might not be the only factor that makes this battle so important. Zaza, as we’ve seen, is in a female form, and Sanji fighting a female is something we never imagined in our wildest dreams, purely because of his anti-hitting policy for women. The main problem we’re noticing with the Zaza fight is that Sanji has a very strict policy of not hitting women in the One Piece anime and manga series. His falling in love with almost every woman in the series is a running gag of the story and leads to much comic relief, but hitting them is something Sanji has avoided so far, which has even landed him in bad situations previously.
During the Enies Lobby Arc, Sanji refused to lay a hand on Kalifa, the CP9 agent. However, Kalifa did not hold back and defeated Sanji, turning him into a soap man with her Devil Fruit powers. History again repeated itself during the Wano Country Arc, where he surrendered to fighting against Black Maria, one of Kaido’s Tobi Roppo members. As a result, he ended up tied down in her web.
So after so many instances, it seems Sanji has finally decided to break his golden rule and fight Zaza, to save the children of Elbaph Island – or at least the mangaka Eiichiro Oda is making sure he fights her. The fight is not only high stakes, as the lives of children depend on the outcome, but it also changes Sanji’s character in the series forever.
