Sulfur is easiest to find in Subnautica 2 once you stop treating it like a random drop. You need to hunt it down and use proper tools to do so!
Many veterans would suggest getting the Heat Tolerance adaptation for a good farm. While that is sound advice, we will also get you harvesting Sulfur as a beginner in Subnautica 2.
This step-by-step guide will take you straight to the right spot to grab Sulfur without any detours.
Part 1: Locate the Sulfur
Step 1: Use the Scanner Station to search for Sulfur

The Scanner Station can track resources within a 300-meter radius, which makes it the easiest way to confirm nearby Sulfur before leaving base.
Step 2: Head southeast from the Lifepod at around 110 to 120 degrees
This route leads toward the open seabed near the volcanic biome and the early-game Sulfur pillar.
Step 3: Travel about 200 to 250 meters and find the tall rock pillar

This shallow formation, around 25 meters deep, is the safest, most reliable Sulfur spot early on.
Step 4: Stay out of the deeper volcanic zone
While the deeper volcanic zone has more sulfur nodes, if you don’t have the Heat Tolerance adaptation, you should just stick to the pillar
Part 2: Harvest the Sulfur in Subnautica 2
Step 5: Look for yellow-gold crystals on the pillar and nearby rocks

Sulfur stands out clearly against the darker stone, so it is fairly easy to spot once you reach the right formation.
Step 6: Pick up the smaller pieces by hand
Some Sulfur spawns as loose fragments around the base and does not need any harvesting tool.
Step 7: Use the Sonic Resonator on larger deposits

Big Sulfur nodes have to be blasted with the Sonic Resonator first before the pieces can be collected.
Step 8: Unlock Heat Tolerance later for deeper farming runs
That adaptation comes from curing an Angel Comb infestation northwest of the Lifepod, and it lets you survive the hotter resource zone for longer.
