One of the coolest aspects of many power fantasy anime is their sick weapon choices. While some series build their entire narrative around these ultra-OP weapons and the lore behind their origins, others treat them as mere tools for personal motive or one-of-a-kind artifacts.
Now, if we consider every anime out there, the following 10 weapons should stand as the strongest this medium has to offer. We’ve also ranked them according to the power scaling as shown in the anime.
10. Yoru (Black Blade) from One Piece

In terms of raw destructive power in One Piece, very few weapons can come close to Yoru. Wielded by Dracule Mihawk, the weapon’s blade, as the name suggests, is colored pitch-black and is quite long as well. It is shown to be capable of launching island-scale slashes and slicing giant ships in half. So, it’s truly hard to compare Yoru with most other conventional swords in anime. But because it doesn’t possess reality-bending powers, it ranks 10th on the list.
9. Dragon Slayer from Berserk
Guts uses the Dragon Slayer in Berserk | Credits:
Given that the sword that Guts wields in Berserk is a greatsword, it naturally has more destructive power than any conventional melee weapon. After all, Guts’ weapon unlocks some crazy power-ups.
The Dragon Slayer was later shown to be capable of damaging supernatural entities that normal weapons may not even touch. It can also indirectly injure members under the influence of the God Hand. Thus, it’s safe to say that, lore-wise, the Dragon Slayer is far more powerful than most other anime swords.
8. Watchman Series Gloves from Gachiakuta

The Watchman Gloves from Gachiakuta may not seem all that deadly, but their powers are truly formidable. Why so? They can literally turn any trash into a magical weapon, and if you’re not aware of how they work, then your chances of winning are near zero. Even the Yoru or Dragon Slayer will not stand a chance if the circumstances favor Rudo, the wielder of the Watchman Gloves in the anime.
7. Tessaiga from Inuyasha
Inuyasha uses Tessaiga in Inuyasha | Credits:
This plain-looking sword from Inuyasha is not to be taken lightly. Tessaiga may not seem like much, but it possesses dimension-cutting powers. The weapon primarily belongs to Inuyasha in the anime, but as the story moves forward, the power within the sword significantly increases.
One of its deadliest attacks, Wind Scar, can even wipe out armies of enemies in a jiffy. Therefore, based on the weapon’s canon feats in Inuyasha, it easily ranks 7th in the list. It could even rank higher, but the competition is tough.
6. Scissor Blade from Kill la Kill
Matoi uses Scissor Blade in Kill la Kill | Credits:
Kill la Kill‘s power system can go as wild as possible. Therefore, the Scissor Blade, one of the strongest weapons in the series, easily claims the 6th spot on the list. After all, it’s said to even cut the Life Fibers, which are essentially the god-like alien fabric organisms controlling the world in the series.
When the weapon first appears in the anime in the hands of Ryuko Matoi, it remains incomplete. But when both of its blades are attached in the late storyline, the Scissor Blade becomes almost unbeatable. It’s even considered to be stronger than most legendary swords in anime.
5. The Spear of Longinus from Neon Genesis Evangelion

Only usable by the Evas, the Spear of Longinus is shown to possess more cosmic power than conventional destructive power. It could easily break the A.T. Fields in the anime, which are portrayed as the ultimate defense, serving as metaphysical force barriers tied to the soul and existence itself. So, canonically in Neon Genesis Evangelion, the Spear of Longinus is a god-killing, reality-altering divine weapon that can even kill the near-immortal. Therefore, it easily secures its position in the top 5.
4. Zangetsu (Bankai) from Bleach

Now we’re entering the heaviest hitters on the list. At number 4, we have the Bankai form of Zangetsu from the Bleach anime. This is the iconic sword that Ichigo Kurosaki wields in the entire series. Since the very beginning of the storyline, Zangetsu has been extremely powerful. However, near the endgame, it becomes a completely different beast.
Its Getsuga Tenshō spam, paired with massive stat amplification, can be far more terrifying than one can imagine. Its final form during the fight with Yhwach even possesses near-reality-breaking powers, even breaking through The Almighty’s future manipulation. Thus, it easily deserves to be ranked this high on the list.
3. Death Note from Death Note

No matter which weapon you may be wielding or where you are in the universe, if Light Yagami knows you and your name, you’re prone to instant death at any moment. Using the Death Note, Light can simply write the names of others mentioned on the list, and before they’d know it, they’ll die. There’s no coming back. While the Death Note may not be a conventional weapon, the way it is portrayed in the anime makes it far deadlier than most other weapons in power fantasy anime.
2. Silence Glaive from Sailor Moon
Saturn uses Silence Glaive from Sailor Moon | Credits:
The only reason Silence Glaive from Sailor Moon is above the Death Note is Light’s inability to control space-time and similar forces. Therefore, if the Silence Glaive falls into the wrong hands, then it’s Joe-over for almost anyone, as it possesses universe-ending powers. Thankfully, it belongs to Sailor Saturn, who is arguably the strongest Sailor Guardian.
While many overlook Sailor Moon because of its magical girl aesthetics, the late-series power scaling in the anime becomes insanely absurd. Then you’re dealing with cosmic entities, alternate timelines, universe-level threats, reality-threatening enemies, and whatnot. It could very well rank number 1 if the Fate series didn’t exist.
1. Sword of Rupture: Ea from the Fate series
While it can be debatable whether Ea is actually stronger than the Silence Glaive or not, in terms of canon feats in the Fate series, we can confidently crown Ea as the strongest weapon in all anime. Though it possesses similar reality-bending powers, like tearing apart space and time, its durability is unmatched.
Ea’s ability to destroy the space surrounding it places it on a whole other level as a weapon. And the scariest part is that, in the anime, Gilgamesh, the wielder of this weapon, is often shown not even using it to its full potential. He never uses it seriously. So, imagine what would happen if he did. Certainly a chilling afterthought, right?

Sure, ranking only the 10 strongest weapons across all anime wasn’t easy, and in the process, we couldn’t mention some other OP weapons, like the Stormbringer from Solo Leveling or any of Toji Fushiguro’s weapons from Jujutsu Kaisen. Also, we didn’t repeat weapons from the same series and only picked the strongest each anime has to offer.
Should Geass be considered a weapon?
No, it’s more like an ability that Lelouch possessed.
Why is ODM gear not on the list?
ODM gear is highly influential in Attack on Titan’s storyline, but it’s not quite strong enough to make the list.
What is the strongest weapon in all anime?
Sword of Rupture: Ea from the Fate series is the strongest weapon in all anime.
