If you haven’t been keeping up, a new Resident Evil movie is right around the corner, directed by none other than Zach Cregger. Instead of focusing on fan-favorite protagonists like Claire or Leon, the movie brings us a brand-new character named Bryan, who has found himself in the chaos of the Raccoon City outbreak.
Sony Pictures Entertainment has released a teaser trailer, offering a glimpse of what’s to come.
But beyond the surface, the trailer is packed with carefully crafted easter eggs tied to the games. So, if you’re curious to catch them all, here’s a breakdown of all the game references hidden in the Resident Evil movie trailer.

The trailer’s opening shot shows Bryan going through the snow towards a farmhouse, but a keen eye will catch something interesting, and that’s a satchel hanging at his right side that bears a close resemblance to Rebecca Chambers’ iconic medical bag from Resident Evil 0. For those who don’t know, Chambers is a beloved figure in the Resident Evil universe and is known for being a medic and a police officer within the elite S.T.A.R.S unit. What’s also interesting is that the recently released Resident Evil Requiem has also slipped in a similar reference to the character.
2. Chief Irons’ Room

As Bryan pushes open the farmhouse door in search of help, the camera reveals a living room that may hold a nod to Resident Evil 2, but this one’s a bit of a stretch. If you see, the room is absolutely packed with taxidermy at every turn, which feels like a callback to Chief Irons’ infamous office from the game. In Resident Evil 2, his workspace was cluttered with stuffed animals, hunting trophies, and preserved specimens that gave the space an unsettling atmosphere.
3. Weapon Progression

The trailer shows Bryan wielding a wide range of weapons throughout the film, much like in the games. Its portrayal of weapons seems like a reference to the franchise’s progression system. For instance, we first see Bryan with a handgun, which is the typical starting weapon in most of the Resident Evil games. He’s later shown loading a shotgun, and after arriving in the city, he appears with a machine gun, which he uses for the remainder of the trailer.
4. Green Herb

While Bryan makes the call, you can see the Green Herb right above his left shoulder. This is one of the most recognizable and iconic healing items in the entire Resident Evil series, serving as a go-to remedy whenever survival is on the line. It’s a staple symbol of the franchise. In an interview with IGN, Cregger himself confirmed that this particular easter egg is a direct reference to Resident Evil 4, and is one of the many such nods deliberately worked into the game, which he hopes fans would pick up.
5. Sewers in Raccoon City

No Resident Evil story set in Raccoon City would be complete without its signature sewers. These underground passages connect major locations across the city, such as police stations, laboratories, and streets, and are plagued with deadly creatures. We see Bryan dropping down into the one in the trailer, where he eventually comes face-to-face with a massive zombie.
6. Leon’s Bike

This one’s another stretch, but if you pause the trailer at the 0:57 mark, you’ll notice a bike sitting in the background behind Bryan. Ring any bells? It appears to be a subtle reference to Leon’s iconic Ducati XDiavel from the 2017 animated film Resident Evil Vendetta. While the bike isn’t fully visible in the shot, what can be seen is that it bears a noticeable resemblance to Leon’s ride from the film.
