While many of you are already sorted for this weekend on which anime to watch, a lot of you might still be confused with so many different titles to choose from. On top of that, if you have a HIDIVE subscription, then it’s bound to be even more difficult, since the platform offers a plethora of titles in almost every anime genre.
That being said, let’s get down to what you came here for: Which anime to watch this weekend (May 2-3) on HIDIVE? Here’s our recommendation of the top 5 titles to watch this Saturday and Sunday – from action to dark fantasy.
1. Made in Abyss

Fair warning that the Made in Abyss series is not meant for the weak-hearted fans, especially those who cannot take graphic violence and other disconcerting elements targeted at children. The series can come off as a laidback adventure series featuring cute children, but oh boy, are you wrong and misguided.
In our opinion, the series is darker and emotionally gut-wrenching than most Seinen anime series these days. If you are looking for something that is adventurous and explores the unknown and are ready to embrace whatever is thrown at you, this series is your perfect match. Additionally, a series of films was announced in August 2025, with the first part, Made in Abyss: Mezameru Shinpi (Awakening Mystery), set to release in the Fall of 2026.
2. Chained Soldier

What’s not to like about the Chained Soldier anime series? There’s a compelling and intriguing storyline, a cast of unique characters with individual personalities, an overpowered by vivid power system, and a male protagonist among several female characters. Yes, this is a harem anime with ecchi elements throughout every episode.
However, this is not your typical harem anime troupe – the male character is not in charge here, the females are. With Season 2 of the anime recently finished airing, this is the best chance to catch up with the anime events so far. Fair warning: there is a “lot” of nudity in the uncensored version.
3. Oshi no Ko
We wouldn’t have advocated for the Oshi no Ko anime series if it weren’t that good. The anime series is one of the best to watch on HIDIVE for fans of supernatural drama and mystery genres. The anime series recently concluded its Season 3, and it was one of the best seasonal endings in the category we’ve seen in a while.
Although there is some debate in the community regarding the manga ending, the series itself has great potential. If you are a late-night anime binger, this is the best watch for you; the series will literally keep you up with its twists and turns at every corner.
It is worth noting that the fourth and final season of Oshi no Ko has already been announced, and Seasons 1 and 2 of the anime are only available on HIDIVE. While Season 3 was released on Crunchyroll, the first two seasons are enough to get you hooked into the immersive story of the anime series.
4. Parasyte -The Maxim-

Are you a fan of gore anime? If so, the Parasyte -The Maxim- might be your very next destination. Following the supernatural and dark fantasy story of Shinichi and an alien parasite-like being, Migi, the story delves into an extraterrestrial takeover scenario with peak animation from Studio Madhouse.
Compared to other Seinen anime series with gore that might churn your stomach, the Parasyte series isn’t half bad and definitely delivers on the unpleasurable scenes of blood and guts flowing out.
5. Non Non Biyori

With all the dark fantasy and gory series aside, let’s take a step back into a more relaxing slice-of-life and comedy title on HIDIVE, the Non Non Biyori anime. What makes this a binge-worthy watch is the fact that the anime series has a very relaxing tone to it, following the story of Hotaru Ichijo who transferred to the Asahigaoka Branch School from Tokyo.
As Hotaru tries to fit into the new routine with her friends, a relaxing and masterfully animated adventure unfolds. If you are a fan of the genre and haven’t had the chance to watch the series, we’re sorry to say that you are definitely missing out on the experience.
