In today’s market, there are many video game isekai anime that are full of absurdly powerful protagonists. This article is going to rank 10 such protagonists who are as strong as it can get in a game world, even if it means hacking the game itself.
The strongest is defined by their ability to manipulate the very laws of their reality (game), but the weakest can still be the strongest in their own verse. Keeping that in mind, let’s dive in.
10. Kirito (Sword Art Online)

Kirito is the protagonist of Sword Art Online. His primary strength is his abnormally high reflexes. He may be one of the few characters in this ranking who actually worked hard for their strength. That said, his baseline power is entirely unremarkable. His combat is highly predictable; his reliance on specific sword skills creates fixed attack patterns that a smart opponent can easily counter.
Furthermore, his most significant feats – such as overriding the system or utilizing “Incarnation” – are situational exceptions rather than abilities that he can use anytime, anywhere. Speaking in simple terms, he is strongest in his universe because he spent countless hours playing video games. But we’ve seen that he can be countered even then.
9. Shiroe (Log Horizon)

Shiroe is a master-level Enchanter with unparalleled strategic foresight and the ability to manipulate game mechanics via the “Contract Art Ceremony.” However, despite the high-level intelligence that makes him one of the smartest of all time, in a one-on-one combat scenario, he would lose instantly. He is very reliant on a vanguard to absorb damage and execute offensive maneuvers.
His character stats in the game – agility, strength, and defense – are critically low. If an opponent bypasses his party’s defensive line, Shiroe possesses no effective countermeasures to survive a direct physical or high-tier magical assault. That said, his strength comes from the fact that he never gets into situations like that; he is too smart for that.

Yuna is only in this list because she has god-tier equipment that no one else has. This equipment grants near-invulnerability, mastery over elemental magic, and immense physical enhancement. She would be higher on this ranking, but she is too reliant on her equipment.
She possesses no intrinsic combat skills, martial arts training, or her own magical reserves independent of the bear suit. If the suit is removed, disabled, or subjected to an anti-magic field that nullifies item effects, she reverts to being a normal human. Hence, while she is really strong, she remains on the eight rank.
7. Cayna (In the Land of Leadale)

Cayna is a character who is in a coma in the real world, but she got a second chance at life in the video game she is in. She is known to be really strong in her own world, possessing various skills such as Flame Magic, Purification Magic, Supreme Healing, Summoning Magic, and much more.
Her title is “Skill Master, ” which allows her to bestow skills to anyone. While she is insanely strong because of 100s of skills that she has in her arsenal, it is also a matter of how good she is at using them. Unfortunately, she is not creative enough. Hence, she ranks in the bottom half of the ranking.
6. Leon Fou Bartfort (Trapped in a Dating Sim)

Leon is a jack-of-all-trades in the world of Trapped in a Dating Sim. He knows various forms of combat; however, there are better people than him for each of those talents. But the reason he is ultimately better than them at all is that he is able to adapt to many odd situations, using whatever skills he has, to make sure he comes out victorious.
But it is also because of that very fact that he is not ranked higher. The characters from here on are simply too powerful on their own.
5. Arc (Skeleton Knight in Another World)

Before Isekai happened, Arc’s avatar was already among the strongest. The avatar itself was at max level 255, and the weapons and equipment Arc had equipped were mythical grade, and his main occupation was Heavenly Knight, with the subclass Pope.
Even without magic, he is extremely strong. He can manhandle large monsters with his bare hands. However, all of his stats are limited by the system of the game. And if someone grinds enough, they can get to his level as well. Hence, he is considered the strongest, but not untouchable.
4. Hakuto Kunai (Demon Lord, Retry!)

Kunai is the last boss of the game “Infinity Game”. However, behind that avatar is a normal salaryman who has isekaid into the game world. He is extremely strong. Remember how Arc from Skeleton Knight in Another World was the strongest player in his game? Well, in Kunai’s case, he is an existence that the highest-ranking players in the game can damage a little.
However, while he is so strong that he can dodge machine guns or the bullets of a shotgun, he is not invincible. If he gets hit by a magic that didn’t exist in the game before, he would take heavy damage.
3. Diablo (How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord)

Diablo is a Level 150 Annihilator Sorcerer whose defense relies heavily on the “Demon Lord’s Ring,” an item that reflects all incoming magic. This makes him highly effective against spellcasters. Because of the equipment he possesses and his own innate skills, he is considered the strongest in the world.
However, even he has his limitations. If attacked by dragon breath, he cannot counter that. Furthermore, unlike those above him in this ranking, he does not have absolute control of the world itself.
2. Ainz Ooal Gown (Overlord)

Ainz Ooal Gown, from the anime Overlord, is a Level 100 Overlord with access to over 700 spells, YGGDRASIL’s World Items, and reality-bypassing instant-death magic. His character build is geared more towards roleplay rather than optimized, competitive combat. Even outside this category, he is one of the strongest of all time.
He can do pretty much anything. He can control time, death, has protection against foreign magic, has protection against mind magic, but can do the mind manipulation magic himself… the list goes on. However, the reason he is not ranked number one is that Ainz is weak against Fire, Holy/Light, and Blunt Damage.

Just like Ainz, Lufasu has a huge set of abilities. But unlike him, she is ranked number one because she seemingly has no weakness. If her (or ‘his’, if we are referring to the person behind the avatar) strength is to be titled, it can only be considered god-like.
She has planet-destroying physical strength, light speed, and the capability to manipulate the fundamental system of the universe itself. Her statistics eclipse standard numerical limits. She is also the reason for the world’s current state, where it is divided in two halves.
