The new DC Next Level initiative has revitalized many classic heroes. It has also given DC Comics the opportunity to bring back characters who have fallen into creative limbo. A preview of the Green Lantern Corps comic reveals the fate of one beloved member of the team. What’s more, it teases their return to action, albeit not as readers may have hoped.
The reveal comes in a preview for Green Lantern Corps #15. Written by Morgan Hampton, with art by Fernando Pasarin and Oclair Albert, the preview centers around a battle with Parallax, the spirit of Fear Itself. In the previous issue, John Stewart had been hunting Parallax and found it hiding in the body of former Green Lantern and Sinestro Corps member Soranik Natu.
Stewart goaded Parallax into possessing him, with the issue ending as the fear avatar asserted control. The Green Lantern Corps #15 preview finds Soranik Natu back in control of herself and ready to fight. This leads her, working with Stewart’s girlfriend Katma Tui, to gather weapons, including a familiar ring.
The main cover and first five pages of Green Lantern Corps #15 may be viewed below.
Who is Green Lantern Corps’ Soranik Natu?
First appearing in 2005’s Green Lantern Corps: Recharge #1, Soranik Natu was a doctor on the alien world of Korugar. She was a reluctant recruit to the Corps, as most of the people of Korugar hated the Green Lanterns and viewed them as tyrants. This was due to Korugar being the home-world of Sinestro, who abused his power to rule over his own people.
Sinestro would come to influence Natu’s life in more ways than one. He made it appear that he had lost a fight to her on Korguar during The Sinestro Corps Wars. This enabled her to regain the trust of her people and get them to trust the Green Lantern Corps. She later learned he had done this because he was her biological father, who gave her up for adoption to keep her safe.

Soranik would later confront Sinestro, who made her an emissary between his Corps and the Green Lanterns. He would eventually award her a Yellow Power Ring. After his apparent death, she took command of the Sinestro Corps, turning them into a peacekeeping force when the Green Lanterns briefly vanished from the universe. When they returned, she tried to forge a new peace treaty between the two organizations.
This effort fell apart thanks to the efforts of a time-traveling villain called Sarko, who sought to destroy the Green Lanterns. After Sarko died, Soranik learned that he was her son with Rayner, who she was romantically involved. Discovering Kyle had learned this but not told her, she ended the alliance and relocated the Sinestro Corps off of Oa.

What happened to Soranik after then remained a mystery until now. It is clear she gave up her command of the Sinestro Corps at some point, but not her Power Ring. However, it remains to be seen how she came to be possessed by Parallax and if she will return to aid her former allies among the Green Lantern Corps.
Green Lantern Corps #15 arrives in comic shops everywhere on April 8, 2026.
