After watching this 90-minute-long Classroom of the Elite Season 4 premiere, I must say it was a bit better than I expected. The prior seasons didn’t really hook me, especially because the characters around Ayanokoji felt really dumb. But the introduction of the first-year students in Season 4 has really spiced things up.
In fact, by the end of Episode 4, the whole White Room assassin introduction arc is almost over, and the final payoff really felt satisfying. Yes, I’m saying that even though I’m not a die-hard Classroom of the Elite fan. Now, let me break down these four episodes honestly.
Episode 1: The Hunt Is On! But Will Ayanokoji Survive?
Episode 1 started things off exactly where I expected. The mysterious White Room student was teased as he made his grand entrance into the storyline as a first-year student. But soon after, the first twist came when it was announced that in the next test, Year 2 students would have to participate with Year 1 students!
The series also introduced a new app provided to every student, where one can track their own and others’ academic progress and achievements. Funny enough, Ayanokoji gets a C rank in that app, but well, there was another twist.
Although Year 2 students now have to participate with Year 1 students, Class 1-D is quite an eccentric bunch. Their leader, Hosen, seems more “down bad” than even Ryuen! But that Nanase girl? The way she was subtly sizing up Ayanokoji was thrilling to witness.
Episode 2: Ayanokoji Really Cooked Up a Partner For Sudo!

While Episode 1 set the rules of the game straight, now it was time for the players to actually hit the ground. As most Class D students were already preoccupied with students from other Year 2 sections, it became hard to find a partner for Sudo!
Horikita also didn’t want to trade points for a partnership. She was dead set on forming an alliance based solely on trust, but that wasn’t helping Sudo! Who would actually want to team up with him? Then something unexpected happened.
This Amasawa girl from Year 1 popped up out of nowhere and offered a helping hand! What was her condition, though? First, it was Sudo, but then the duty fell on Ayanokoji to cook a meal for her. Only then would she team up with Sudo. Well, things went smoothly after that, and the Sudo problem was resolved in the episode.
Episode 3: Ayanokoji Fan-Club Keeps Growing Stronger

I only mentioned that the Sudo problem was resolved in Episode 2, but that was just minuscule compared to the real issue at hand. Nanase is wary of Ayanokoji, and even Sakayanagi and Ryuen are busy playing their own games in the background.
So what’s happening up front? Ayanokoji’s harem keeps growing! First, we see Karuizawa again in Season 4. I mean, she’s never been my favorite character, but it’s funny to watch her interactions with Ayanokoji. When she finds out that the Amasawa girl came to his room for a meal, she even went all furious, which was kind of cute.
But it’s not just her. Another first-year girl approached Ayanokoji to partner with him, and she even had a guy supporting her. These two might become important figures in later episodes, but for now, they just further boost Ayanokoji’s popularity among female students.
Episode 4: Hosen Wasn’t Prepared for Ayanokoji’s Aura-Farming

The fourth episode almost turned into a blood battle. Well, there was indeed blood involved, but it was intentionally inflicted by Ayanokoji to corner Hosen and Nanase. It turns out the two were never willing to cooperate; their main goal was to get Ayanokoji expelled.
That’s why they even set up the Amasawa x Sudo situation! But Ayanokoji, being the ‘chad’ he is, saw through their plan without breaking a sweat. Hosen, Nanase, and Amasawa wanted to frame Ayanokoji for stabbing Hosen so he would be expelled, but Ayanokoji flipped the script and took the stab instead!
With that, it became clear that Classroom of the Elite’s second-year arc is going to be intense. Ayanokoji hasn’t been expelled yet, but he still has no clue about the identity of the secret White Room student hiding among the first-year students. I even doubt they’ve shown them to us in these four episodes! What do you guys think?
