Paul Bettany recently teased the “big swings” coming to VisionQuest, the upcoming MCU TV show on Disney+.
What did Paul Bettany say about VisionQuest?
In VisionQuest, Bettany will reprise his role as Vision, who was last seen as White Vision in the Disney+ show WandaVision. VisionQuest will now follow Vision’s next journey in the MCU.
During a recent interview with ScreenRant, Bettany spoke about his collaboration with VisionQuest showrunner Terry Matalas and their goals for the show.
“I think that Terry realized, and agreed with me, that I feel like Marvel gets rewarded when it takes really big swings,” Bettany said. “And I think that he just understood in his bones who Vision is. And Vision is for the kid that I was when I was a kid — the kid that felt like an outsider and felt like they had no community that they fit into. And he knew who these stories are for and who Vision is for. And I think we made a really fun and entertaining show about a guy who’s an outsider and trying to find out who he is.”
Returning to the MCU for VisionQuest is James Spader, who will reprise his role as Ultron. Bettany and Matalas both described Spader’s return as “delicious,” with the latter expressing his gratitude for the show.
“I’m so very proud of what we did,” Matalas told Screenrant. “I would have to say, if you’re a fan of Paul Bettany and James Spader, [VisionQuest] is a delivery system for those two. It’s one of my most favorite things, even in post. It’s so delicious to watch these two cut it up. I’m very proud of it and can’t wait for you to see it.”
VisionQuest’s cast also stars Todd Stashwick, Ruaridh Mollica, T’Nia Miller, Emily Hampshire, Orla Brady, Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, James D’Arcy, Faran Tahir, Lauren Morais, Diane Morgan, and Mary McDonnell.
VisionQuest is expected to premiere on Disney+ in 2026.
