Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios announced the start of production on God of War and unveiled the first photo of Kratos and Atreus.

The first photo from the God of War TV show for Prime Video features stars Ryan Hurst and Callum Vinson as Kratos and Atreus. Kratos is standing behind his son, watching him draw his bow.

Production is now underway on the highly anticipated live-action television adaptation of the popular PlayStation video game.
Additional cast members include Mandy Patinkin as Odin, Ed Skrein as Baldur, Max Parker as Heimdall, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson as Thor, Teresa Palmer as Sif, Alastair Duncan as Mimir, Jeff Gulka as Sindri, and Danny Woodburn as Brok.
“The God of War series storyline follows father and son Kratos and Atreus as they embark on a journey to spread the ashes of their wife and mother, Faye,” the official logline reads. “Through their adventures, Kratos tries to teach his son to be a better god, while Atreus tries to teach his father how to be a better human.”
Ronald D. Moore is the showrunner, executive producer, and writer of God of War. Moore is best known for developing Battlestar Galactica and Outlander. Additional executive producers include Maril Davis, Cory Barlog, Naren Shankar, Matthew Graham, Asad Qizilbash, Jeff Ketcham, Hermen Hulst, Roy Lee, and Brad Van Arragon. Co-executive producers include Joe Menosky, Marc Bernardin, Tania Lotia, and Ben McGinnis.
Frederick E.O. Toye will direct God of War’s first two episodes. Toye won an Emmy for his directorial work on FX’s Shōgun.
Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios are co-producers on God of War, in association with PlayStation Productions and Tall Ship Productions. God of War received a two-season order.
God of War does not have a release date. It will eventually stream on Prime Video.
