Sadie Sink‘s Spider-Man: Brand New Day character has reportedly been revealed, and who she is playing shouldn’t come as a surprise to Marvel fans who have been staying in the loop about the upcoming superhero blockbuster.
Who is Sadie Sink playing in Spider-Man: Brand New Day?
While Marvel Studios has yet to confirm who Sink is playing, trusted scooper Cryptic HD QUALITY has reported on X that the Stranger Things actor is indeed Jean Grey in the upcoming Spider-Man movie.

This confirmation puts an end to the wild year that Sink’s casting has had over the Marvel fandom. She was first cast in Spider-Man: Brand New Day in an undisclosed role in March 2025.
At the time, Deadline noted that “the prevailing theory is she’ll be introduced as X-Men character Jean Grey,” a casting possibility that insider Jeff Sneider was the first to report on back in December 2024 and that Sink herself debunked (or lied about) shortly after being cast.
However, given that Jean Grey is an X-Men character, Sink’s casting in Brand New Day had many wondering whether she would debut in the movie as Jean Grey or if Marvel had opted to cast her in a different role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
This uncertainty about Sink’s character in Brand New Day led scoopers to use vague language in their reporting. Just last month, MyTimeToShineHello refused to outright state that Sink is playing Jean Grey, instead reporting, “Sadie Sink’s character wears Jean Grey’s colors of yellow and green, has similar powers to her, and is being chased by Damage Control. So that makes me think she is Jean Grey.”
Reported plot details for Brand New Day also fed into the uncertainty, as the character many believed to be Jean was acting more antagonistic than heroic. One scene in the movie reportedly shows the character using her mind control powers to manipulate the DODC guards to help get Scorpion out of prison.
Alex Perez of the Cosmic Circus pondered how “this is something Jean Grey would do.” Further leaked plot details for Brand New Day had Jean Grey turning Bruce Banner back into the uncontrollable rage-induced Hulk, which also seems out of character for the young mutant.
With five months to go until Spider-Man: Brand New Day hits theaters on July 31, 2026, MCU fans won’t have to wait long to officially see if Sink is indeed playing Jean Grey in the Phase 6 movie.
