Created by Graham Wagner and Geneva Robertson-Dworet, the post-apocalyptic drama takes place in a futuristic setting where nuclear war destroys the whole of Los Angeles. With nowhere else to go, people are required to stay in bunkers to avoid any potential dangers. With Season 2 recently concluding, many want to know if another installment is in the works.
Has Prime Video canceled Fallout or renewed it for Season 3?
Amazon Prime Video renewed Fallout Season 3 in May 2025, months ahead of the Season 2 premiere.
The renewal announcement took place during Amazon Prime Video’s upfronts presentation at the Beacon Theater in New York. The event was attended by actors like Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten, and Walton Goggins. Vernon Sanders, global head of television at Amazon MGM Studios, confirmed that Season 3 is happening during the presentation (via Deadline).
He said, “We are absolutely thrilled that our global Prime Video customers will be able to delve deeper into the wonderfully surreal and captivating world of Fallout.” Appreciating the cast members and partners involved for making the series happen, he further added, “Jonah [Nolan], Lisa [Joy], Geneva [Robertson-Dworet], and Graham [Wagner] have done an exceptional job bringing this beloved video game franchise to vivid life on Prime Video.”
He contined, “Together with our amazing partners at Bethesda Games and Bethesda Softworks, we are delighted to announce a third season of Fallout, well ahead of the much-anticipated debut of Season Two.”
During a conversation with IGN, executive producer Jonathan Nolan revealed details on the filming timeline for Season 3. He said, “Oh boy. Well, I will say, with regard to production, we’re hoping to be shooting again next summer. You know, we’ll see if that comes together.”
Based on its predecessor’s release pattern, Season 3 could either come out in late 2026 or early 2027. This is because the past seasons dropped back-to-back each year.
