The second villain in Supergirl has been revealed. The DCU movie stars Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl, the Kryptonian cousin of Superman.
Who is playing the second villain in Supergirl?
As reported by Deadline, Diarmaid Murtagh will play Drom Baxton, the second in command to Krem of The Yellow Hills, Supergirl’s main villain played by Matthias Schoenaerts. Drom and Krem have been described as “ruthless space pirates and human traffickers.”
Murtagh is best known for playing Leif in Vikings, William “Buck” MacKenzie in Outlander, and Donal McDonnell in The Tourist.
Supergirl is based on Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, a comic book series by writer Tom King and artist Bilquis Evely. Alcock reprises her role as Kara Zor-El, who made a brief appearance in 2025’s Superman.
“When an unexpected and ruthless adversary strikes too close to home, Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl, reluctantly joins forces with an unlikely companion on an epic, interstellar journey of vengeance and justice,” the official synopsis reads.
Supergirl also stars Eve Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll, David Krumholtz as Zor-El, Emily Beecham as Alura In-Ze, and Jason Momoa as Lobo. David Corenswet will reprise his role as Clark Kent/Superman.
Craig Gillespie, who helmed 2023’s Dumb Money and 2021’s Cruella, directs Supergirl. Ana Nogueira penned the screenplay. James Gunn and Peter Safran will produce.
Supergirl is the second movie in the DC Universe, which kicked off last summer with Superman. Supergirl is the first of two DCU movies this year. The second movie is Clayface, a body horror movie starring Tom Rhys Harries as the titular villain. Clayface is set for release on September 11, 2026.
Supergirl is part of DCU’s Chapter One: Gods and Monsters. Following Supergirl and Clayface, the only other movie from Chapter One on the release calendar is Man of Tomorrow, the second chapter in the Superman Saga. Man of Tomorrow is scheduled for July 9, 2027.
