The newest Avengers: Doomsday trailer may have secretly given away a big plot point.
Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday is currently in post-production. Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, also known as the Russo Brothers, the movie will be released in United States theaters at the end of this year. The sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, then arrives in 2027.
Marvel has now released four teaser trailers for Avengers: Doomsday. The first teaser revealed that Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers was returning to the MCU, while the second focused on Chris Hemsworth’s Thor and the third on a handful of X-Men characters. The fourth trailer, then, puts a spotlight on Letitia Wright’s Black Panther/Shuri, while other notable characters like Winston Duke’s M’Baku and Tenoch Huerta Mejía’s Namor can also be seen.
What might have the new Avengers: Doomsday trailer revealed?
At the end of the new Avengers: Doomsday teaser trailer, Shuri, M’Baku, and some other Wakandans are seen walking across a large desert to meet Ebon Moss-Bachrach Ben Grimm/The Thing of the Fantastic Four for the first time. While it’s entirely possible that this desert is somewhere on Earth, many are also speculating that this scene could be set within the Void.
The Void is a metaphysical dimension located at the End of Time that has previously been seen in MCU projects like Loki and Deadpool & Wolverine. According to online rumors, the Void is the space where Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom will create Battleworld, which will likely be the setting for Avengers: Secret Wars, following the incursions.
This means that, if characters like Black Panther and The Thing are already in the Void, there’s a strong chance that the scene seen in the new Avengers: Doomsday might not occur until very late into the movie. So, while the teaser sets up some fun interactions between Fantastic Four and Black Panther, there may actually be very few of them.
Avengers: Doomsday is dated for December 18, 2026. Avengers: Secret Wars is dated for December 17, 2027.
