Based on Harlan Coben’s novel, the Netflix miniseries Run Away builds toward a twist-filled finale that reveals the truth behind Aaron Corval’s murder and the fate of Ash and Dee Dee, the pair on a killing spree throughout the series.

The story begins with the disappearance of Paige Greene, the daughter of Simon and Ingrid. What initially appears to be a missing-person case quickly turns into a murder investigation when Aaron Corval is found dead. Suspicion immediately falls on Simon, who was last seen in a physical altercation with Aaron.

As the investigation unfolds, additional suspects emerge. Ash and Dee Dee, a pair of hired assassins, are revealed to be responsible for several murders linked to the case. Ingrid is also drawn into suspicion, though she appears to have an alibi for the night of Aaron’s death.

The finale ultimately reveals that Ingrid was the one who killed Aaron. She had long been aware of Paige’s struggles with addiction and of Aaron’s controlling and abusive behavior.

Aaron repeatedly interfered with Paige’s attempts to get clean, even sneaking into her rehab facility and injecting her with drugs, which caused her to leave treatment. His behavior escalated after they connected with his half-brother, Henry, leading Aaron to become increasingly jealous and violent.

Desperate for help, Paige went to Ingrid and told her everything. Ingrid urged her to return to rehab. Before doing so, Paige went to Aaron’s apartment one final time, where she discovered his dead body. In the finale, Paige tells Simon (James Nesbitt) the truth that Ingrid killed Aaron in an attempt to help her.

A final twist reveals an even darker truth. Through the genealogy website she joined at school, Paige had discovered that Aaron was actually her half-brother. Years earlier, Ingrid had become pregnant while being in a cult and was told the baby had been stillborn.

However, the child survived and was given up for adoption, growing up to be Aaron. Unknowingly, Ingrid had killed her own son while trying to protect her daughter. Paige and Simon decide to keep this devastating truth from Ingrid, agreeing never to reveal what really happened.

What do Dee Dee and Ash Find Out About Simon?

Over the course of Run Away Episode 7, Sliding Doors, Dee Dee and Ash gradually uncover key information about Simon Greene. After killing private investigator Elena, the duo goes through her phone and discovers a message from Simon. Curious, Dee Dee searches his name online.

She soon finds a viral video showing a fight between Simon and Aaron at the park earlier in the series, where Simon had beaten Aaron after he stepped in between him and Paige. Watching the footage, both Dee Dee and Ash grow suspicious about how Simon knew Aaron and why he was in touch with Elena.

As they head toward Aaron’s apartment to carry out the next hit on their list, assigned by the cult, Dee Dee continues digging into Simon’s background. She discovers that he runs a company with his sister-in-law and immediately dismisses him, remarking that he “deserves to die.”

Ash strongly disagrees with Dee Dee’s increasingly impulsive behavior, especially her willingness to kill people outside of their assigned targets. The tension between them escalates, with Ash clearly disturbed by the murder of Elena.

However, once they arrive at Aaron’s apartment, Dee Dee and Ash realize someone has already killed him. Lacking the full picture, they decide to follow Simon, who is meeting Cornelius and local dealers to gather information about Paige.

Without warning, Dee Dee and Ash enter the room, triggering a violent shootout involving Luther, Rocco, Simon, and Cornelius. The confrontation ends with Ash, Rocco, and Luther dead. Witnessing Ash die from a gunshot wound, Dee Dee chases after Simon and shoots him in the back.

However, before she could take another shot, Mother Adiona, the mother of one of the men on her kill list, suddenly appears behind her and pushes her from the ledge, with Dee Dee falling to her death.

Is Paige Greene Not Dead?

No, Paige Greene, whose disappearance drives Netflix’s Run Away as her father Simon searches for her, is not dead.

The finale follows a police raid on The Shining Truth’s compound. Isaac Fagbenle eventually also arrests Casper Vartage, the cult’s leader, who refers to himself as The One.

During the raid, police also discovered a locked container used to imprison and abuse a traumatized young woman. Despite the breakthrough, Paige is still missing.

The investigation ultimately clears the path for Ingrid and the Greene family. Fagbenle informs Simon that Aaron was one of Casper Vartage’s sons, born inside the cult and illegally put up for adoption.

When these sons later began finding one another through a genetic database, Vartage discovered their existence and ordered their murders. Ash and Dee Dee were tasked with carrying out these killings and are believed to have murdered the private investigator Elena, who was getting dangerously close to the truth.

Despite the cult’s collapse, Paige remains missing. After being released from the hospital, Simon continues searching until he finally finds her sitting beside Ingrid’s hospital bed one day.

What Did Paige Greene Confess?

After finally reuniting with her father, Simon, Paige Greene opens up about everything she has been hiding. She begins by revealing that she has been in rehab, actively trying to get clean. She also reveals that she has been sober for nearly a month and plans to return to complete her treatment.

Paige also explains what happened the night she found Aaron dead in his apartment. Terrified that the police would assume she was responsible for his death, she panicked and ran.

With nowhere else to go, Paige hid out in Aaron’s caravan for several days, eventually realising that it was her mother, Ingrid, who had killed Aaron. Knowing what Ingrid did, they made a quiet agreement to never reveal this to her.

Paige also opens up about her past trauma and about being sexually assaulted at university, an experience that led her into a destructive spiral, especially after she met Aaron and got involved with drugs.

Netflix has not yet renewed Run Away for Season 2. Based on Harlan Coben’s 2019 book of the same name, the series is adapted by Danny Brocklehurst, with Nimer Rashed and Isher Sahota.

Premiered on Netflix on January 1, 2026, Run Away has received mixed to positive reviews, earning a 78% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes. While some critics praised the series for its fast pace and the twisted ending, others also criticized the series for its implausible coincidences. However, the future of the series remains uncertain as of now.
