Winter 2026 is going to be one of the most stacked anime seasons in recent years. From Jujutsu Kaisen and My Hero Academia to even brand-new, hyped upcoming IP like Sentenced to Be a Hero, there’s a lot to cover. Sure, aside from these 7 big names, there will be 10s of new seasonal anime where you might even find some hidden gems.
However, considering the most anticipated ones, here’s a list of them in order by release date.
1. Sentenced to Be a Hero

The month starts with the much-anticipated new addition to the fantasy anime genre, Sentenced to Be a Hero. Though essentially, it is supposed to be a dark fantasy, which is even better news.
There aren’t any good dark fantasy anime that have come out in recent years. So, Sentenced to Be a Hero can change that notion with its wildest take on the popular ‘Hero Party’ trope. So, get hyped.
2. Golden Kamuy – Final Season

Next is Golden Kamui, returning with its final season. The gold hunt will finally reach its end. And after long-running rivalries crashing into each other, Sugimoto and Asirpa’s journey will conclude.
But yeah. You’ll still get that classic mix of dark humor and emotional character moments, just with way more tension and closure. Essentially, the final season will be a proper send-off for the story.
3. My Hero Academia: Vigilantes – Season 2

The original My Hero Academia series sure has come to an end now, but the spin-off prequel series, Vigilantes, is just getting started. Season 1 introduced us to a world that’s set before Deku’s journey even began.
Now, in Season 2, we’d explore more of the rather unexplored MHA world, a world of illegal heroes with relatively useless quirks, or even no quirks at all. Where the gaze of the heroes doesn’t reach, they stand against all odds.
4. Jujutsu Kaisen – Season 3
RELEASE DATEJanuary 9, 2026STUDIOMAPPAWHERE TO WATCHCrunchyroll
Things are about to go down in Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3. After the Shibuya Incident arc, the entire power ranking of JJK will be redefined in the upcoming Culling Game arc, and the series will enter its final phase.
With Kenjaku’s plan finally in motion, several ancient sorcerers will be resurrected and forced to partake in the battle royale Culling Game. Yuji’s motivations will be tested on the grandest scale.
5. Fire Force – Final Cour

Part 2 of Fire Force Season 3 is set to release this January as well, and it is also rumored to be the final installment of the franchise. After the big, cliffhanger-esque revelation in Part 1, the hype is real now.
In fact, there are tons of content to go through, with many more plot twists and action sequences set to take place. So, this final course is expected to end the series with a bang, and fans are holding onto that hope.
6. Hell’s Paradise – Season 2

Season 1 of Hell’s Paradise set the foundation and raised the stakes high for Season 2. The search for the immortality elixir will be more challenging now for Gabimaru and his companions.
The mystical island of Shinsenkyo has many more mysteries yet to be uncovered as well, such as how Tao energy works and its divine secrets. So, Hell’s Paradise Season 2 will certainly be a wilder ride than Season 1.
7. Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End – Season 2
RELEASE DATEJanuary 16, 2026STUDIOMadhouseWHERE TO WATCHCrunchyroll
Finally, in mid-January, Frieren Season 2 will start airing, progressing toward one of the series’ most critically acclaimed arcs. However, the series, as usual, will have a lot of detours.
But those detours will slowly start to make sense after going through the storyline. Stark and Fern’s growing chemistry will also be explored, along with further insane world-building, animation, and soundtracks.
Well, these are some of the most anticipated anime releases this January 2026. Other than these, you should also keep an eye on series like Oshi no Ko Season 3, Medalist Season 2, Chained Soldier Season 2, You and I Are Polar Opposites, Fate/strange Fake, and many more. So, what are you most excited for? Let us know in the comments.
