A tale of a princess, a witch, and their bond concluded in the recently released and hard-hitting Wicked: For Good. The musical fantasy stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande in the leading roles, Elphaba and Glinda, respectively. And while the audience loved the way the film touches new heights and explores the fantasy world, towards the end, the fans were left scratching their heads in simple confusion, rather, an intrigue: What did Glinda say in Elphaba’s ears?
Shedding light on the secretive whisper, Erivo, who we all also love for her stint in Harriet and a vocal chord that cannot be matched, stated that she never plans to reveal what she heard from Grande’s Glinda.
Talking to Variety, the Bad Time at El Royale actress stated,
I’m never telling anyone. It is movie related, I suppose, what she said to me, but it’s also us related as well.
For those who do not know, the scene takes place towards the end of the movie after the dust has settled.
Wicked: For Good is an age-old musical now beautifully adapted by director Jon M. Chu, who is also the director of highly acclaimed films such as Crazy Rich Asians, Now You See Me 2, and others.
Wicked: For Good also stars Jonathan Bailey, Ethan Slater, Peter Dinklage, and Colman Domingo. Other highly praised Hollywood names in the film are Jeff Goldblum and Michelle Yeoh.
Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande Share a Uniquely Labeled Bond
The filming of Wicked movies surely created an unbreakable and magical bond between the lead actresses, Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande. This was clearly seen while they were walking the red carpet of the latest and second entry in the film franchise. And while all of Wicked’s tales seemingly concluded in the 2025 release, the friendship that has become the talk of the town is still sensing beautiful days.
Meanwhile, a few netizens took this opportunity and named the bond between Erivo and the former Disney Channel star, “non-demi-curious-semi-binary relationship,” per Poprant.
However, it should be noted that neither Erivo nor Grande has ever used this term. The outlet also states that despite the term seeming to have a relation to the LGBTQ identity, the term is not real and is not categorised in LGBTQ.
In fact, the whole term took off on the internet through a social media post.
