Obsidian Entertainment has kept fans on the edge of their seats with Fallout: New Vegas 2, but has never confirmed whether they’d pursue the idea. Now that both Obsidian and Bethesda are under the same roof, they can make it happen.
As a matter of fact, The Outer Worlds 2 director, Brandon Adler, spoke to GamesRadar+ recently and shared that they look at “everything that’s available” before approaching an idea. Furthermore, Adler even acknowledged that they do look at different IPs that Xbox owns to play around with. This includes Fallout on the menu as well.
Obsidian Has a Full Buffet, but Is Not Picking What’s Popular

In 2025 alone, Obsidian has made its name with its own unique IPs like The Outer Worlds 2, Grounded 2, Avowed, and more. However, one of their biggest brags remains to be Fallout: New Vegas, but they never approach the idea once more, despite knowing fans want it.
It was revealed by Brandon Adler that Obsidian has IPs of its own, and it’d like to follow up with these. If not, they’d like to bring up unique ideas to the table, to create their own style.
All things considered, that’s a great way to think, still approaching a formula that just works, and having a huge fanbase might give Obsidian a bigger audience. Maybe even New Vegas Remake if a sequel is not possible, because fans are willing to play a Fallout title created by them.

Over the years, Obsidian has been known for being the harbinger of making greater sequels for other IPs, but not their own. Back in November 2025, Marcus Morgan, the VP of Obsidian’s operations, spoke to The Game Business about their future goals. And stated the following:
When I look at Larian’s RPGs, or Bethesda’s RPGs, or CD Projekt’s RPGs, they are compared, but they’re all very different. I want a different experience when I go play Baldur’s Gate than I do when I go play Cyberpunk. Our goal with The Outer Worlds and Avowed is to more clearly define what it is to be Obsidian as a standalone entity, as opposed to chasing after what already exists.
In the world of the RPG genre, we’ll see Bethesda and Larian leading the industry as brands, and Obsidian wishes to become such a name as well. Even though Obsidian has made multiple original RPGs under its name, it still hasn’t solidified itself with its unique take on the genre just yet.
Well, that goal might be the very reason why they haven’t considered working on a New Vegas sequel or a project whatsoever, because it would boost Bethesda’s reputation with Fallout regardless.
That was everything you needed to know about Obsidian’s plans for future projects. Do you think they’d ever proceed with creating a Fallout project? Share with us in the comments below.
