The trailer for The Mandalorian and Grogu is out now and gives fans their first look at Rotta the Hutt, who is quickly becoming a fan-favorite.
What are fans saying about Rotta the Hutt?
Little is known about Rotta the Hutt as it pertains to his role in The Mandalorian and Grogu. However, we do know a bit about his character. The son of Jabba the Hutt, Rotta appeared briefly in 2008’s Star Wars: The Clone Wars movie and was playfully nicknamed “Stinky” by Ahsoka.
Now Rotta the Hutt is all grown up and fighting. His brief appearance in the trailer shows him flexing in front of a colosseum crowd. In the movie, he’ll be voiced by The Bear’s Jeremy Allen White, although it’s unclear just how much of his voice we’ll actually be hearing.

The Mandalorian and Grogu trailer reunites Star Wars fans with Pedro Pascal’s Din Djarin and Grogu, also known as Baby Yoda, as well as Sigourney Weaver and Johnny Coyne.
The Mandalorian and Grogu will be the first theatrically released Star Wars movie since 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. The only other Star Wars movie that has a release date at this time is Shawn Levy’s Star Wars: Starfighter, which arrives on May 28, 2027. That film recently started production and will star Ryan Gosling, Aaron Pierre, Amy Adams, Matt Smith, Mia Goth, Flynn Gray, and more.
Lucasfilm’s The Mandalorian and Grogu arrives in U.S. theaters on May 22, 2026. The first three seasons of The Mandalorian are currently available to stream on Disney+.
