Actor David Harbour recently praised Avengers: Doomsday and compared its story and quality to that of Avengers: Infinity War and Captain America: Civil War. He is set to return as the Red Guardian in Doomsday. Harbour last appeared in the movie Thunderbolts*, which came out in May 2025.

David Harbour says the Russos ‘have a special sauce’ for Avengers: Doomsday

The Stranger Things star recently spoke about working with the Russo Brothers on Avengers: Doomsday and lauded their vision.

David Harbour told Screen Rant, “I was not even convinced when we started, and this movie’s gonna be really good. They have a special sauce. I don’t even really understand, but they [the Russos] just know how to do these things. And I think that, as evidenced in Civil War, as evidenced in Infinity War, there’s something about the layers in which they put the comedy and the drama and the surprises and the scale and the epicness and all that stuff. It’s incredible.”

The 50-year-old actor further stated that he has “never been on a set like this (Avengers: Doomsday) in my life. I’ve never seen anything like this.” He added, “You saw those chairs. So it’s like, every one of those guys and girls has a trailer. It’s just insane to look around the room and be like, ‘Oh my god, I’m in the movie. There’s what’s his face doing that speech.’ It’s just enormous.”

Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to be out on December 18, 2026. It features a massive cast, including Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr., Vanessa Kirby, Pedro Pascal, Florence Pugh, Paul Rudd, Sebastian Stan, Tom Hiddleston, Channing Tatum, and many more. The movie also has actors from the old X-Men universe, like Patrick Stewart, James Marsden, Alan Cumming, Kelsey Grammer, Ian McKellen, and Rebecca Romijn.
