Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday has received another casting rumor after a fan-favorite Marvel actor was spotted in the city where the upcoming movie is currently filming. This comes over five months after the first 26 cast members of Avengers: Doomsday were revealed. Until now, the studio hasn’t made any additional casting announcements, despite Kevin Feige previously teasing fans that they haven’t really revealed the entire cast yet.
What’s the new Avengers: Doomsday casting speculation?
Shared on X, Spider-Man actor Tobey Maguire recently took a picture with a fan in London, leading fans to speculate that Maguire might be part of the Avengers: Doomsday cast. The next installment to the blockbuster superhero franchise has been filming at Pinewood Studios in England since last April. Some of the cast members, including Anthony Mackie, Simu Liu, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, and more, also shot their scenes in Bahrain last May.

Maguire’s Peter Parker/Spider-Man was last seen in Spider-Man: No Way Home, where he accidentally gets transported to Earth-616. In the 2021 movie, he fought side-by-side with Tom Holland and Andrew Garfield’s versions of the friendly neighborhood superhero. Due to the sacrifice of Holland’s Peter, he was able to return to his own universe.
Avengers: Doomsday is being directed by Avengers: Endgame filmmakers Joe and Anthony Russo from a screenplay written by Stephen McFeely. The latest installment will feature the return of Marvel vets Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Hemsworth, with Chris Evans rumored to appear. However, this time, the Oppenheimer actor will be playing a completely different role in the form of Victor von Doom/Doctor Doom. The ensemble cast will also include Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Paul Rudd, Tom Hiddleston, Sebastian Stan, Florence Pugh, Tenoch Huerta Mejia, Kelsey Grammer, Lewis Pullman, David Harbour, Wyatt Russell, Hannah John-Kamen, and Danny Ramirez, along with X-Men stars Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier, Ian McKellen as Magneto, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, James Marsden as Cyclops, and Channing Tatum as Gambit.
Doomsday is slated to arrive in theaters on December 18, 2026, followed by Avengers: Secret Wars on December 17, 2027.
