The Alters is peak science fiction mixed with the simulation and survival. 11 Bit Studios showed very well that they can create much more than builders. But let’s not forget where they started from, as you can also find a Frostpunk easter egg in the Social Room. Wild, right?
But there’s one easter egg that stood out to me, and that’s The Alter‘s easter egg in Frostpunk Modding Kit. Instead of just featuring a cameo, 11 Bit Studios geeked and kind of made a Rick and Morty reference. That’s right, easter egg within an easter egg.
This isn’t the first time developers have showcased their love for multimedia. Even recently, we saw Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, paying tribute to Bleach anime by making similarly looking weapons.
Rick and Morty have become a cult classic like Breaking Bad, and we can see a lot of easter eggs referring to the latter. Schedule 1 is the prime example of making a game out of Breaking Bad. Finding out Rick and Morty are getting a tribute in one of my favorite games is exciting.
This Easter Egg Featuring The Alters in Frostpunk Modding Kit Has to Be a Rick and Morty Reference
Frostpunk is one of the biggest franchises under 11 Bit Studios for its impeccable survival mechanics. However, the first game had its limitations, which the modder could have improved. Due to engine limitations, that wasn’t possible for the first game.
Thus, while building Frostpunk 2, 11 Bit Studios showcased an official modding tool, which was highly welcomed. However, the trailer showing the tool hid a “The Alters” cameo. The mod tool showcased Jan Street Sweeper, whom we never saw among his other variants. But how does that connect to Rick and Morty?

If you read the biography of Jan Street Sweeper, you’ll get to find that he’s smart like everyone else, but made a sweeper. Who else comes to mind when being smart is concerned? Rick Sanchez!

Thanks to u/Ordo_Liberal, we get to notice that the bio given for Jan Street Sweeper matches the description of Plumber Rick showcased during The Ricklantis Mixup.
We all know how smart Rick is. And his being a plumber doesn’t make sense. The same is the case for Jan, as he’s pretty smart himself, and a street sweeper variant sounds hilarious. Glad the developers put that easter egg in the game.
The Alters Had Another Crazy Easter Egg That Might Shock You

The Alters is a straight-up masterpiece, and there are many things people might overlook. There’s one easter egg in the game, which we come by at the start, even before making the first Alter. That’s cloning Molly the sheep.
You might think Jan playfully named the sheep Molly because he was a part of Project Dolly. But there’s a bigger thing at play, and it is based on a real-world example.

Back in 1996, scientists were able to create the first mammal clone out of an adult somatic cell. The mammal was a sheep named Dolly, who sadly died in 2003. This is why in The Alters, the mining mission was called Project Dolly. Additionally, Molly looks exactly like Dolly, which is why this is the coolest easter egg.
Did you know about these hidden details in The Alters? Have you found any other secrets while playing the game? Share them in the comment section, we’d love to know.
