Esteban Ocon clearly has no chill when it comes to calling things out. First, he clapped back at Drive to Survive. And now, he’s gone one step further, spoiling major deets about Brad Pitt’s upcoming F1 movie before it even hits theaters. While the film’s under tight wraps, Ocon casually dropped plot clues that give away way more than we were ready for.

From key race scenes to what Pitt’s character is up to, he didn’t leave much to the imagination. For a project that’s been hyped as F1’s next big cinematic moment, this unexpected leak could rattle fans and studios alike.

Esteban Ocon pulled a full Tom Holland. He accidentally spoiled F1, the new Brad Pitt-led racing film, before its wide release. At the film’s premiere on Wednesday, Ocon praised the movie’s realism, then casually spilled the final race twist. He alluded (via GPblog),

I think at some point there were things that didn’t really make too much sense for us as drivers being inside the paddock every time and racing. But I really see where Lewis has put his touch to manage to try and make everything as realistic as possible…

And what I found really good is that last race, they suddenly just don’t fly and win the race. But it’s because of something happening in the race, putting the red flag, them not being in Q3 and then having the new tyres.

Ocon quickly backtracked: “I’m sorry, I thought you guys had seen it.” But the damage was done already. Still, the Haas driver couldn’t stop hyping the film. He praised Lewis Hamilton’s role in keeping stuff super realistic, though he admitted some scenes felt more Hollywood than Hungaroring.

This isn’t the first time Ocon’s blown the whistle on racing fiction. He once called out Drive to Survive for bending reality (via Autoweek): “I never said that,” he clarified about a moment where Netflix had him celebrating eighth like a podium finish.

The Frenchman’s candid takes, while hilarious, do raise a fair point. F1 is already full of drama. Does it really need the extra flair? At least he appreciated the movie’s message. “There’s a female mechanic doing pit stops… and she’s a big part of the winning.” Then another spoiler slipped out. He grinned, comparing himself to serial spoiler king Tom Holland.

Between calling out Netflix and spoiling Hollywood, Ocon’s becoming F1’s most accidental truth-teller.

Brad Pitt’s F1 movie gets rave reviews from drivers after Monaco premiere

Brad Pitt’s F1 movie got the green light from the production. After a private Monaco screening, real-life F1 drivers were buzzing and not just from engine noise. Carlos Sainz called the footage insane, praising its quality over plot spoilers (via SportsStar). Haas rookie Oliver Bearman agreed, calling it “a huge hit in the making.”

The Apple Original film, dropping June 25 globally (June 27 in North America), follows Pitt’s character Sonny Hayes, an aging racer chasing redemption with Top Gun: Maverick director Joseph Kosinski behind the wheel. Damson Idris and Javier Bardem also rev up the cast.

Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc loved the storytelling and images. Red Bull boss Christian Horner said it felt “very authentic,” despite their critical eyes.

Even Lewis Hamilton, a co-producer, promised it would feel real. Meanwhile, Max Verstappen skipped the premiere, preferring “private time.” Fair but he’s missing out.

F1 is scheduled to be theatrically released on June 25, 2025, internationally, and in the United States and Canada on June 27, 2025.
