The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Pulls 5M Views and Puts Real Housewives of Beverly Hills to Shame

The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives has taken the reality television genre by storm. The series, which dives deeper into the hidden struggles and complex relationships in the lives of some Utah-based “mom influencers”, just pulled in a massive 5 million viewers on its season 2 premiere. This huge jump in popularity is a big deal, especially when we look at how other long-running shows are doing.

For instance, if we take a look at The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, it has been losing viewers. The perfect example of this would be their Season 14, which proved to be lackluster despite the drama the show features. Let’s dive deeper!

The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives crushes Real Housewives with 5 million viewership in 5 days

Reality television fans might have a new obsession, and it’s not what anyone expected. The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is quickly becoming the show everyone’s talking about, evident from the impressive number of viewers it managed to pull with its premiere episode. That’s right, in just five days, the show’s Season 2 has brought in a massive 5 million viewers on Hulu via Variety.

It’s definitely turning heads in the entertainment world, and surprisingly, it’s even beating The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, which used to be the gold standard for drama. But what makes Mormon Wives stand out? It dives deeper into the world of Mormon mom influencers – some of them already famous from TikTok’s #MomTok.

And when we talk about the drama—well! It’s quite real. The second season picks up after Taylor Frankie Paul’s wild “swinger scandal,” and everything unravels from there. From broken friendships to messy fallouts, the show gives a raw, behind-the-scenes look at these women’s lives.

Meanwhile, on the other hand, The Real Housewives is struggling to sail through with Season 14, receiving the lowest rating in the history of the show. That’s right – as per Collider, not even a single episode has crossed 1 million viewers, and the season finale drew less than 900,000 viewers. This is a sharp decline because in the early years, the show used to bring in at least 2 million viewers per episode.

The major reason for the decline could be that the show used heavy editing, too many camera cuts, and graphics that didn’t look good. But the major setback that happened was the lack of chemistry and drama in the cast. Moreover, the situation was so bad that even bringing popular names like Dorit Kemsley and Sutton Stracke didn’t help either.

Plus, with so many Real Housewives shows airing at once, fans might have gotten tired of the same formula everywhere. On the flip side, Mormon Wives feels fresh and isn’t afraid to showcase the messy side of things. And it looks like the new queen of reality TV might not live in Beverly Hills—she might be a Mormon mom with a secret.

What do we know about Season 3 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives?

While Hulu hasn’t announced a third season of the show, it’s clear that The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives isn’t finished yet. In fact, in October 2024, it was confirmed that 20 new episodes had been ordered. Since Season 2 featured only 10 episodes, fans are guessing that the remaining 10 will be released as Season 3.

Filming for the second season took place between October and December 2024. So, assuming the same production schedule, the next season may have started filming in early 2025 – although a few cast members are pregnant and expecting babies this summer, so filming may wrap up soon.

Cast favorites like Taylor Frankie Paul, Mikayla Matthews, Mayci Neeley, and Layla Taylor are all expected to return. Moreover, Miranda McWhorter, a new but popular addition, is also likely to come back. However, Whitney Leavitt’s future is up in the air as she explores her passion for acting.

While exact details are still under wraps, cast members have hinted via People that viewers will finally get some answers and maybe even a little closure in the next chapter.
