Creature Commandos not only gives James Gunn’s DCU its official beginning but has also enlightened fans with Batman’s debut. The actor playing this new version of the Caped Crusader has yet to be cast. But, people can now be sure it won’t be Robert Pattinson’s masked vigilante.
Batman’s Creature Commandos debut confirms Robert Pattinson’s absence from DCU
Despite James Gunn repeatedly confirming that the DCU will have a different Batman, fans of Robert Pattinson held on to the hope that his version could later be incorporated into the DCU. However, Batman’s debut Creature Commandos Episode 6 has seemingly confirmed that this won’t be the case.

In Creature Commandos Episode 6, Batman appears in a flashback sequence, implying that he was the one to put Dr. Phosphorus in prison. While his cameo didn’t last long, it was enough to confirm that Robert Pattinson won’t be joining the DC Universe.
This new version of the Dark Knight has a bulky physique compared to Pattinson’s leaner variant. If Gunn, Peter Safran, and Matt Reeves had plans to bring Pattinson into the DCU, then Creature Commandos’ Batman cameo would have shown his leaner version to stay consistent. But, since that didn’t happen, DC fans can be sure that Matt Reeves’ universe will continue to exist as an Elseworlds story.
Meanwhile, the DCU will have a Batman with a more muscular build, similar to Ben Affleck’s version. The above cameo shuts the door to Pattinson’s variant but opens one for the likes of Alan Ritchson, who has already shown interest in playing the role in the past.
Creature Commandos features Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr. (voice) in the lead. It also features the voices of Steve Agee as Economos, Anya Chalotra as Circe, and Zoe Chao as Nina Mazursky. Others joining the voice cast are Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Maria Bakalova as Princess Ilana, Indira Varma as The Bride, Sean Gunn as GI Robot and Weasel, David Harbour as Frankenstein, and Alan Tudyk as Dr. Phosphorus.
After six episodes, Creature Commandos will stream its finale on January 9, 2025.
