Be it dark and gory themes or power-packed battles, Jujutsu Kaisen is a class apart. It differs from most anime through its blend of supernatural and dark elements. Apart from its cult popularity, the series has become a fan favorite. From winning the Crunchyroll Award for Best Anime of the Year to being the most popular anime, the series has come far.

With the manga’s final chapter releasing on September 30th fans on Reddit couldn’t help but express their bittersweet emotions. While the final chapter marks the closure of the series, it doesn’t negate Gege Akutami’s role in carving an underwhelming and rushed ending.

Fans on Reddit express their emotional conflict regarding Jujutsu Kaisen’s closure

Unlike most shonen series, Jujutsu Kaisen excels in outlining its side characters through its compelling storyline. From Maki Zenin to Nobara Kugisaki, the female characters add more depth and gravitas to the series. Be it animation or power systems, Gege Akutami’s magnum opus has garnered a worldwide fanbase. And there’s more to it.

Of all the characters in the series, Satoru Gojo remains the most loved and celebrated among the readers and viewers. With the series nearing its end next week, the author has stripped the readers of any hope of the character’s possible return. Despite its controversial ending, the series left a huge impact on the viewers and readers. Fans prepare to bid farewell as the manga will release its final chapter next week.

Despite its flaws and errors, the series won the Guinness World Record for the most popular anime show. While Gege Akutami’s magnum opus has bagged several accolades and recognition, it failed to give a proper closure to most characters. To say the least, he isn’t exempt from criticism due to the series’ rushed pacing.

Gege Akutami isn’t exempt from criticism due to his rushed ending of the series

From Satoru Gojo’s death to killing off Nanami Kento, Gege Akutami is notorious for stripping fans of their hope. Apart from being Yuji’s mentor, Satoru Gojo is the most celebrated character in the series. With his terrifying and gory death at the hands of Sukuna, fans were left devastated. However, the viewers’ obsession with Gojo goes beyond the manga.

From Sukuna’s defeat in Chapter 268 to Nobara Kugisaki’s return, the series outlines a pattern of inconsistencies. To add to that, most readers eagerly anticipate Gojo’s return but to no avail. While Akutami is heavily criticized for their treatment of Gojo, he failed most characters with the underwhelming ending of the series. While the series is critiqued for its pacing and plot inconsistencies, it impacted several readers and viewers nonetheless.
