The Presidency has advised Nigerians not to allow themselves to be conscripted into any agenda that would be against the nation.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President Bola Tinubu on Public Engagement, Fredrick Nwabufo, said this on Tuesday, on his X handle.
Fredrick Nwabufo said President Tinubu understood the current economic hardship faced by Nigerians and has been putting out programmes to address the challenges.
The Senior Special Assistant on Public Engagement said this to dissuade citizens from engaging in an August slated protest against President Tinubu’s economic policies.
Nwabufo listed household support initiatives, increased minimum wage and agricultural investments as programmes engaged by the federal government to cushion the effects of hardship.
He said, “President Tinubu’s administration has been rolling out and implementing seminal programmes, essentially targeted at the vulnerable and the most vulnerable population. The National Construction and Household Support Programme, the exponentially reviewed minimum wage, the agricultural investments, the social welfare initiatives, and many others.”
He added that while there are genuine concerns, the federal government has been addressing the citizens’ concerns.
He reminded citizens that it was a collective of all Nigerians to maintain peace and stability in the country.
“There is genuine concern, understanding, and attention; hence, the carefully-tailored programmes, and more.
“Nigerians should be wary not to be conscripted into any agenda that does not bode well for the nation.
“It is our collective responsibility to ensure that the government works for us all. It is also our responsibility to ensure the peace and stability of our nation,” Nwabufo added.
