Despite the DLC’s focus on the Empyrean, a lot of things around his character remain a mystery. We don’t know if the mount shown in teasers belonged to the Empyrean or if the developers simply wanted to trick gamers into believing that he had a clear connection with Ranni, Melina, and the Tarnished.
That’s not all; the Empyrean removing the veil wasn’t even present in the game. It’s still not known which outer gods chose him and if they had anything to do with his eternal youth curse.

With the latest expansion focusing on Messmer’s character, it seems like game director, Hidetaka Miyazaki, and his team ran out of time to dig into the Empyrean’s character. This has many in the community hoping his lore can be expanded with future DLCs and updates.
